decalcomanie comeback interview
a series of questions answered by selene’s mirae during selene’s comeback showcase.
how would you describe this comeback?
“with each comeback, selene works hard to show new sides of ourselves so that fans don’t get bored and we can keep growing as performers and singers. making a comeback with our memory album, we wanted to show a side of ourselves that might not seem totally new on paper, but feels totally new when you watch us! rather than a sexy concept, “decalcomanie" is, to me, a mature and womanly, and even sentimental, comeback. when i think of memory, i think of the word ‘refined’!”
how are you feeling about this comeback?
“i’m thrilled to get to perform on stage and meet with fans again! every time selene is between comebacks, i grow restless to promote again even after eleven years, so being able to make our comeback again now has brightened my spirits! ”
what is your favorite part about this comeback?
“i really am proud of every part of the album, but other than getting to perform on stage again, i’m happiest that we get to continue to show our abilities and return with concepts that don’t feet neatly into one concept box or stereotype of what a girl group is capable of.”
what is a memorable story from preparations for this comeback?
“the mirror dance scene in the music video was memorable to me! i don’t remember ever doing something like that before, and it took a moment to work it out perfectly. I’ve read they do something like this sometimes in films and television when they need to film a certain way that prevents them from using an actual camera. we’re good at the mirror dance now, though! do you want me to show it?”
do you have any specific hopes for this comeback?
“only that our fans love it and receive it well!”
what is your favorite song on the album?
“well, i have to be a bit predictable and say “moderato”, my solo track. i worked hard to be able to deliver a track all by myself, with the featuring artist of course, and i hope that it can be a song that our fans love.”
what was it like filming your kissing scene for the music video?
“it’s not a surprise for our fans to see me in a kissing scene anymore, right? [laughs] it went smoothly! actually, we didn’t even kiss for real. it was all camera angle magic.”
can you introduce your solo song on this mini-album?
“yes! i have a solo track on this album. it’s called “moderato”. it’s about approaching a romance at a “moderato” pace, like in a piece of music. it’s my first solo track since our full moon album, and this song is a completely different genre. “moderato” is fitting for a twenty-nine year-old mirae, so please listen to it well.”
