Due to no longer being affiliated with multiple blogs, I’ve been reworking several important parts of the blunderbots’ stories and key moments over the last year. (Please do not approach anyone formerly affiliated with this blog.)

Classic Verse is not part of their background, it’s its own separate verse!

Backstory changes:

Orbot and Cubot started out looking like their canon designs, however instead of being built around the time of Sonic Colors, they were built just before the events of Sonic Adventure 1. Dr Eggman realized that after the major blunder of the E-100 series trying to capture a single frog, he’d need two more competent and loyal minions who had a bit more free thinking to allow creativity in the field. He decided to use the AI chips of the already created Orbot and Cubot.

Using a prototype of the new roboticizer, Eggman transformed two Freedom Fighters into Robians before scooping their personalities and replacing them with the blunderbots’. Giving them also a very life-like appearance, while also a cruel and immediate reminder that they were Eggman Empire property. Orbot and Cubot had to get used to their new bodies (learning how to walk is hard when you’ve never had legs before!), but once they figured it out they were tasked with retrieving Chaos Emeralds. They would work with whoever Dr Eggman also hired, and the two bots became not only his personal guard, but also his top two Enforcers of the Empire.

Plotline changes:

In the last year, Cubrador was in a relationship with Nack the Weasel. This has been removed. He’s always thought the hired mercenary was cool, but at this time I don’t think it makes sense for them to have gotten together in that way without Dr Eggman noticing or making an example of them.

Orbadillo had been mangled and hung from the ceiling, which led to a very engaging plotline, however this also has to change. Since Eggette is not present in Modern Verse for this blog, (I also do not want to write other peoples’ personal interpretations of characters) the inciting incident becomes that Eggman, due to his intense paranoia, ended up snapping on Orbot. It has always been in Orbot’s duties to be critical of his Boss’ work, this time during a particularly harsh assessment, Dr Eggman accuses Orbot of wanting to rule the Empire in his stead and that’s why he’s so hard on him--to which Orbot tries to defend himself, only to be ripped apart.

It’s not perfect, but it can’t remain as it was without fears that I am stealing characters. Eggman has always been portrayed as paranoid and violent, so this isn’t much of a stretch for him.

Orbadillo keeps his relationship with Infinite mostly intact! Cubrador ends up being the one who rescues Orbadillo from the ceiling and still desperately tries to ask around the Empire for help, but nobody ends up trying to help him. Eventually, Dr Eggman fixes Orbot, and he assures them that he has to be this harsh with them because otherwise they’ll just get themselves in trouble, that he loves them so he’s hard on them, and notice that nobody came to help not even Sonic? Clearly, Eggman is all they need.

So that pretty much catches us up to now. Orbadillo and Cubrador are still part of the Eggman Empire and will likely stay that way for many years to come. I still plan on writing a “free” verse, where they are no longer trapped in the Empire, but that also needs to be reworked.
