-Toph goes to the tea shop after an argument with her roommates Suki and Sokka.

-Suki is sick of living in a disaster area/having to clean up after them. Sokka says he tries but Toph just does it on purpose, she likes the apartment to be a disaster.

-Toph just wants to be able to LIVE in her apartment like a normal person. Houses are supposed to be lived in. They don’t have to be pristine every second. She doesn’t want to live in an IKEA show room.

-Anyways this old guy with a nice voice waits on her, but instead of taking her order he just tells her what tea he’s bringing her.

- He’s right, the tea is perfect, and he ends up sitting down to have tea with her. He’s a really good listener.

-Toph doesn’t normally talk about feelings but for some reason she finds herself doing it with this guy she just met.

-“To reach understanding you must communicate what you feel, not what you think about those feelings.”

-“That sounds nice but does it actually mean anything?”

-Toph keeps going back, and he doesn’t really get how the Jasmine Dragon is successful because Iroh always seems to be just hanging out with his customers. But he always has time for her.

-He’s been everywhere and has a lot of great stories.

-He’s a world class martial artist and when Toph finds out she immediately wants to spar with him.

-Iroh takes her seriously and agrees to train with her. He asks her what sparring means to her, and she says go all out.

-And he DOES. He beats her at first, but not easily. And from that moment on he’s one of Toph’s favorite people in the world because there’s not a lot of people that don’t have to learn the hard way not to treat her gently.
