Everyone feels so disconnected in this season because of their own grief. It makes sense in a lot of ways but it’s just so sad, especially because there doesn’t seem to be any real effort to connect the characters back together. The only dynamic in the firehouse we see being furthered at all is Buck and Ravi’s, which is great, but also so little. Chim and Hen barely speak, same with Buck and Eddie, Chim and Buck are also so isolated because of their own personalized grief from Bobby’s death. There’s no real focus on the established found family dynamics that have been set in place throughout the whole series and it feels hollow because of it. If there’s no development soon for everyone’s grief that actually explores the change they need as individuals and as a whole the show is going to feel entirely off for the rest of its run time.
