#(...for the most part)

I haven't watched the movie but I've heard about it! I ended up looking up the plot just to get the gist of it

It definitely is an interesting take because if we're talking about frantic Yan phainon then it would be easy to imagine that he'd use a one wish willow to get you to like him back and love him more than anyone especially considering he hates the fact you let other guys into your life.

If he did use it to make a wish similar to the one the main character made then he'd likely enjoy the feeling of having your attention solely on him and maybe even be starstruck by your possessiveness toward him. If you killed people for his sake, Phainon might just consider that the most romantic thing ever, since he'd be willing to do the same as well. On one hand, Phainon would love the idea of you being just as messed up as him— it would make his plan to fantasies of isolating you both so much easier to execute if he were to ever do so.

But personally I think he'd be against the idea of stripping you of your free will. He's desperate, but he's desperate for you to love him back on your own terms. That is, without the involvement of anything supernatural. Because if he did use the one wish willow, as much as he'd like your mutual obsession, the fact that it's not really your personal desires driving your actions would nag him. Likely to the point where it literally isn't satisfying anymore because he knows you're only doing this because some unseen force is making you.

So if he was given the choice to use it, or presented any form of 'magic' that would allow for the opportunity for your love, I believe Phainon wouldn't do it. He doesn't care how hard he has to work, as long as it's you up there in your mind that decides you want to return his feelings then that's all matters.

So for the most part I don't have a ton of thoughts on the casting. A lot of it is mostly the same people from the off-broadway production, aside from a few swings and ensemble members, but I wanted to just share the thoughts I had on the few major one's they changed. They're not gonna be that deep.

Ken Ard as DJ Griddlebone: First of all, I've been on record saying that I headcanon'd Alonzo as the DJ, but in retrospect, making it Griddlebone makes a lot of sense. It gives context to that line in Macavity, and I can think of a few fun things they could do with that. But also, KEN ARD! ORIGINAL BROADWAY MACAVITY! (Also Electra in Broadway Starlight Express, but this is not about the trains) AHHHHH! I hope they keep grabbing Cats alumni for this show, because I love it so much!

Kya Azeen as Etcetera: Guys, we have an Etcetera! Now, I also went on record saying that Cassandra in the show felt like Etcetera, and they're still keeping Cassandra, but they are also cutting Electra. My guess is that Etcetera will take the role that Electra had, but hopefully they up it more. Honestly I hope they have Cettie take Cass' place and Cass take Electra's. But most likely not.

Bryson Battle as Jellylorum: Looks like we are gender swapping Jellylorum this time around, and I am so here for it. I will miss both Shireen and Jenny since they were so good in the role, but I am excited to see what they do here. But, I will bring up one thing. Both Jenny and Shireen brought up that Jelly was supposed to be into Demeter, and got told to play it that way because the directors wanted some lesbian rep in the show. How well they did that considering all their interactions are in the background are up to you, but I'm wondering if they'll still keep that with the gender switch. Also is the look gonna change??? Though I've been asking that about this version since they made that first video.

Leiomy as Macavity: WHAT IN THE LESBIANISM! Sorry, Lady Macavity!!!???! What are we doing here, and why aren't I seeing it right at the very moment? I'm curious if they'll still keep Macavity the same from the off-broadway show, but also a lot of their decisions for the character were based on Antwayn's suggestions, so who knows. I hope they keep it similar because I think it really worked for the version of the show.

This isn't about casting, I just want to remind everyone how much I want Demeter and Bomba to kiss.

*ahem* Feng Xin in Book 2... seem familiar???
