This is just ridiculous. I honestly doubt that Trump has done even 1% of the deliberation that needs to be done when it comes to this ban.Ā
I mean, how is this going to effect trans individuals already in military service? What about military jobs that donāt involve combat? How does this apply to the draft? If this does indeed effect the draft how will exempted individuals be selected? By how far they are in their transition? By whether or not theyāve legally changed their gender?Ā How will they be evaluating young potential recruits forĀ āsigns of being transā? Or if a recruit discovers they are trans later down the line? This is nonsense.
The way he worded the tweets show that heās going theĀ āitās about medical expenses/concernsā route, but if thatās the case why not simply ban certain medical expenses or individuals who have certain medical needs (spoilers, they already do this!) and have hormone medications fall under that rather than single out trans individuals?Ā
The way heās gone about this has caused it to be nothing more than an erosion of certain individual rights, and considering how many trans people are lower income individuals who pursue military jobs (esp non-combat Ā ones) to get some stability this is bad shit imo.
Also why tf are we hearing about this through tweets rather than a formal announcement of legislation? Is this really the level weāre at?
