What is a witch? - asks the disbelieving human.
Nothing that any human can understand.
But what is a witch? - the disbelieving human insists. How can I believe in witches, if I do not know what a witch is?
... I don't know, what is a witch? The question can be answered so many ways. Is a witch the one that spins the tale? She is, but a witch is also the one that observes it. The one that devours it. The one that tears it apart, and reconstructs it to her liking. A witch can be all those things, and more. That is not what it means to be a witch. A witch is not just one who weaves and watches tales.
Is a witch one who grants wishes?
I wonder. I am praised when I grant wishes, but it is when I don't that I'm cursed as a witch. And I am not the only one who grants wishes, am I? Make a contract with any devil, and you will have your wish granted. No, that is not what it means to be a witch. A witch is not just one that grants wishes.
Is a witch the one you curse when things go wrong?
Whenever a human works hard and is rewarded, they are happy to take the credit. But whenever their efforts fall short, they are quick to turn to me. I did what I could, so why have I failed? they shout, even though just by reexamining their efforts, they would see their shortcomings. Yes, a witch exists to take on the sins and failures of humans. But so do devils, demons and Gods. No; that is not what it means to be a witch. A witch is not just one that is cursed.
Then what is a witch?
... A witch is one who is able to firmly grasp the title of 'witch' in their own hands.
I am a witch.
