2D looks utterly at peace, wrapped around Stuart like it would physically pain him to be apart from his boyfriend. His head rests on Stuart’s chest; he can probably hear his heartbeat, Stuart thinks.
He must be hearing a lot, then.
Even though he’s totally exhausted, Stuart can’t keep a stupid grin off his face, or will his heartrate to slow. 2D loves him– well and truly loves him, is in love with him. He’s here in Stuart’s arms, warm and close and happy. And he will be tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.
“I love you,” Stuart whispers, just to hear himself say it again, just because he can now. He can say it when 2D wakes up, soft and a little grumpy in the morning light. When they eat breakfast together and brush hands accidentally over the table. When they’re out taking Parker on walks and the sun illuminates 2D’s hair as he throws his head back in laughter. When they’re fucking around with the game system and 2D kisses him on the cheek just so he can have a three-second advantage while Stuart is distracted. When they’re playing music together and 2D gets that spark of inspiration in his eyes.
Stuart smiles a bit to himself. God, he’s really turned him into a romantic– the kind of guy Stuart can’t stand, who’s completely gaga over their partner.
Somehow, though, he doesn’t really mind.
He closes his eyes, and joins his love as he drifts off to sleep.
