But it's not like he's immune immune (where's the fun in that?). He can still feel the side effects but he can just tolerate it much better than anyone else would've.

I imagine that it started because since his enemies die so quickly, he needed to make himself weaker instead to make his battles last longer and more fun. And with how often he fights, its also likely that he developed an addiction. The concoctions he takes are in a higher and stronger dosage as well so as a side effect, basically any substance to him has no significant impact since his system has gone numb.

Substances would include alcohol, pain killers, aphrodisiac, poison (obviously), and etc.

This turned out to be a good thing because the vice captain now has one less weakness.
