This is the announcement I really, really, didn’t want to make. I’m only doing this because of some sweet people who follow this account and have been keeping up with everything going on. I really appreciate you💗

⚠️: Pet loss.

My sweet Sadie passed away only 30 minutes before her follow up vet appointment. I checked on her this morning, and she was doing okay. Last night she ate and drank.

And then only 30 minutes before taking her back into the vet, she passed away. I believe she was in heart failure. To say I’m devastated is an understatement.

I don’t like to admit this, but when it came to my mice, I found them hard to bond with (in comparison to my hamster). I love them, but they just weren’t keen on interacting, and that’s okay.

But Sadie was. She loved interaction. She always came running to the enclosure door when I’d shake the food jar. She loved pets behind her ears. She loved to climb all across the enclosure like a little acrobat. I believe she may have had heart failure, even though I was told originally she had gas buildup.

I’m sorry I didn’t get you to your second appointment in time, Sadie. I walked into the room to get ready to go, and when I got her carrier out- I saw her. It had JUST happened.

This happening so soon after losing my Charlie is a huge fucking blow. My face is swollen.

Little vent below:

On a real note- Sadie suddenly isn’t doing well. I’m going to call the vet tomorrow to try and get her seen. I am praying she doesn’t have a GI blockage or something like that. I don’t think it’s a respiratory infection because she isn’t breathing loudly or wheezing. But seemingly overnight she started to appear rather bloated and now she’s breathing pretty hard. The internet has answers ranging from constipation to hear failure.. so that’s a pretty significant range of potential issues.

I recently lost Charlie, and I just don’t want to lose anyone else. I’m not sure of Sadie’s exact age, even though she was from a breeder. I never ended up actually learning how old she was. It’s possible she’s already around a year old or is about to be. So if surgery was needed I’d have no clue what her odds are.

On top of all of this, I’ve been in horrible physical pain this last week and a half. I only have energy for my animals and laying in bed. Disabilities are hard, and i’m just ready to not feel like this. I’ve been in and out of the doctors four times these last two ish weeks, with my test results being all over the fucking place (like a huge white blood cell counts in my piss, but no infection?? What?? Is happening??). Me and Sadie out here feeling like shit. 🥲💔

Homogeneous animals typically have better pigment then heterozygous ones.

There really aren't any shortcuts you can take with tan.

Yellow is dominant over black so it won't add anything, most yellows also have very pale bellies which is not the goal here.

Breed for homogeneous only, select the offspring that have the better colour distribution each time.

Try to breed away from faults like black showing theu the tan on the chest *(think moon bear)

Early in the line progress might seem very slow but after a few generations you will notice the improvements.

Try to keep the line as pure as you can.

Blue is a recessive that will wash out the tan belly.

Chocolate can degrade the quality of the black .
