she'd much rather do a co ed performance, if only that meant she had the comfort of her best friend being with her. she teases him, but the truth was that of the two, it would be ruby who would struggle with the distance.

every time she gets assigned a task like this, she gets that familiar unsettled feeling in her stomach. it’s easy to ignore what actually happens at these ‘hits’, what she’s really there to facilitate, when there’s a little drink to sip on and good conversation to distract herself with, but tonight, something seems more off than usual. they’re playing with fire, going after another gang so directly rather than the businessmen affiliates they’re usually targeting. thankfully, the pianist in the corner of the hall should drown out the cries of her fellow gang member’s victim when she finishes the job. a shiver runs down yeji’s spine.

after, of course, phoning his parents to see if they watched ( they did ), one of the first things seungcheol wants to do after the samsung new year special airs is search for netizen comments. it’s a dangerous game to play, since with online anonymity, people feel like they can say whatever they want and that brutal honesty ( or plain maliciousness ) doesn’t always make his mood the brightest before he lies down to sleep, but he can’t help his curiosity. he wants to know if the public enjoyed their mr. chu cover as much he did, or if they saw how cool woohyun was up on stage for his duet with eclipse’s haseul. he wants to know if anyone liked his rap, or thought his dancing had improved since their promotional period back in november. but it’s like russian roulette searching through comments on articles and forums, so instead, his finger hovers over a familiar contact in his messages, wondering if this is a good place to start. 

he hadn’t technically met jeonghan, the boy on the other end of this mysterious friendship, and jeonghan definitely hadn’t met him. he sometimes feels a little guilty, as if he’s lying to someone he cares about but he doesn’t think of it that way. it isn’t lying, really. he tells him he works long hours in the day, that’s why he often replies late in the afternoon or evening, which is true. he told him he loves music, which is true. he just didn’t tell him, especially when jeonghan first declared himself a convex fan to him, that he’s choi seungcheol — bias of said group. having someone he can talk to that doesn’t know about his status as an idol, the stress of training, is so relieving. he doesn’t want to ruin that, even if he feels a little selfish about it. jeonghan doesn’t know that when he compliments ‘seungcheol’s improvements as a performer, he’s actually making the long hours of training for over two years worth it.
