✂ -- Vivid Memory
--{Rose had been spending much of her time with Greg,
--leaving the other Crystal Gems to pick up the slack. None of them minded. How could they? They had no right; not after everything she’d done for them.
It had been a routine day. There had been some Relic of the War that had started up on its own. Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst had gone out to quell its ancient rage. Mundane, routine, normal. It’d gone without a hitch and, though they were returning with some mild scrapes, they were relatively unharmed. They were all getting stronger without Rose, something that was both a proud moment and a terrible one.
Garnet was the first to return to the Temple. Amethyst and Pearl had stuck behind to do some clean-up; Garnet had to get the relic to the Temple Depths and destroy it before it could re-activate.
R o s e was there, waiting for them.}
“Garnet! Welcome home.”
{Rose was smiling, that soft smile of knowing she had mastered over the years. Garnet, weary, stepped from the warp towards her with relic in-hand. She’d been with Rose long enough to tell when something was amiss-- when there was something that needed to be said that she was reluctant to spill.
Rose could tell that the silence was weighted and heavy. She folded her hands in front of her gemstone, looking directly into Garnet’s eyes despite the shield of her shades. }
“ I have w o n d e r f u l news!
Greg and I--”
{Garnet tensed.}
“ We’re pregnant.”
{Rose continued on to explain how she’d wanted to tell everyone all at once, as well as some other things Garnet didn’t quite catch. The rest of the night had been a blur. The trajectories had told her everything that Rose hadn’t.
