||Amalgamation||
{Garnet had been trying to keep her head on straight since  she’d seen it-- the mass of twisted limbs  s h r i e k i n g  in the depths of the Kindergarten. The Synthetic Fusion of   Homeworld design, the punishment for the Rebellion; The  absolute abomination of non-consent that made her feel  like her every shimmer of her illusionary light was a mistake.
They’d gotten the amalgam shards desynchronized and  bubbled back to the Temple House but that was as long  as Garnet stayed with the group. Holding herself back  from her absolute terror had been her main priority  while she was commanding her Team. They needed  her to be strong and guide them, else they would be  lost amidst all of the confusion. None of them had  known this was happening. None of them had known  that their former allies were being tormented in such a way.Â
The Warp Pad took her deep into the forest, as it had every  other time she went to visit her newfound friend. The walk  was a blur, a hazy rush of greenery and dark, moonlit  skies. All she could hope was that Howl hadn’t left for patrol  yet. She needed confirmation that not everything that came  out of the Kindergarten was painful, a confirmation that  she didn’t have to wear a proverbial mask around.   Amethyst was too innocent. Dropping the weight of  everything the fusion had just seen on her would result  in terrible, terrible things.
Garnet wasn’t even fully present as she climbed her way  up the front steps to the smaller gem’s home and brought  her knuckles up to the wood. Her mind was elsewhere,  future and past, scrambling in an attempt to make sense  of everything.}
