What does âloveâ mean to them?
After having loved Hisana the way he did, deeply and unconditionally, he believes another such love is unattainable and that he will remain faithful to her until the day he dies. To Byakuya, a connection like that is utterly sacred and must be protected. However, his journey to that belief was a difficult one, and he struggled greatly between his loyalties and honor, eventually making a decision that almost destroyed everything left of the woman he lovesâthough, after his battle with Ichigo, he realised that it was made in error, having set his own heart second to his familyâs code.
There are few things Byakuya fears, not injury or death, nor his own pain. What he fears most is losing Rukia. Though he shies away from interfering in her battles and is deeply proud of her advances, he will protect her if absolutely necessary. Perhaps the only thing he dreads more than her death is being utterly helpless, unable to protect those he cares about or what he stands for. It was for this reason, he was strong enough to fight Ăs NĂśdt without being paralysed despite being caught in fear. While not technically something he is fearful of, he is acutely aware of how his actions are reflected on his family and all that have come before him, as well as the incredible weight on his shoulders due to his position as head of the Kuchiki house and captain of his division, and will often follow the path that reflects best on those, even at the detriment to himself or those around him.
What is one thing about them that they are most proud of?
This is a very simple matter for such a complicated man: his sister. He makes little secret that Rukia is the epitome of his pride. Byakuya is utterly astounded by her capacity for forgiveness and her inner strength, believing her to be much stronger than himself in that regard. During the decades between her adoption and near-death at the hands of Aizen, Byakuya found it almost impossible to look at or interact with her, struggling with her innate resemblance with her deceased sister as he mourned. In this time, he all but rejected her presence and spent only the most minimal time he could around her to avoid the pain in his own heart, but still, Rukia forgave him without a second thought after all heâd done against her and rebounded to strengthen their relationship and herself tenfold.
What is one thing that they find embarrassing? (About them, others, things in general)
Though he feels little true embarrassment, one thing that will bring him discomfort without fail is mentioning his youth. He believes himself to be far beyond the short-fused boy he once was and would much prefer to leave the past to be just that.
