Xavier sat up out of bed, feeling lonely despite the sound of the shower coming from the master bathroom. The second Sabina had left the bed, he’d stirred, sensing the loss of her even in the deepest sleep. It had been nearly two weeks since he’d told her that he was in love with her, and so far, she hadn’t mentioned it again. Xavier was terrified that she hadn’t remembered, or worse, she regretted either of them having said it. The possibilities were eating him alive.Â
Deep down, he knew he was overreacting. Technically, he and Sabina weren’t even officially a couple. They’d been playing house for months, but maybe that’s all it was to Sabina. Xavier’s heart twisted. If that was the case, he would be heartbroken, but keeping up the charade of pretending to feel casually about her was better than losing her. Right?Â
He pushed himself out of bed and padded toward the bathroom, finding himself in the doorway before he realized what he was doing. The steam fogged the mirror and the glass panel around the walk-in shower itself, but his heart still skipped a beat when he saw her muddled shape through the glass. Raising his arms to lift his shirt over his head, Xavier took a few slow steps toward the shower. “Mind if I join you?” @feverish-desires
