@omniishambles . the (weird) cheerleader and the weird kid
Everyone had told Fish that Zachariah Kosminski was the weird kid, that she shouldn't get anywhere near him. And so, of course, all she wanted was to get to know him. She found it absurd that it had not occurred to her classmates that she'd be into weird -after all, she made everyone call her Fish. But she supposed her status as cheerleader made her oddities forgivable in the eyes of her peers.
She had approached him a few days ago, and the welcome had been rather icy and disinterested. But it took a lot more to discourage Fish. She was stubborn; once she had an idea, good luck changing her mind. Which meant that she had kept talking to him since.
And so, she sat next to him on the little spot he occupied every day for lunch. He didn't eat with the others in the cafeteria, but she had come prepared: a sandwich her mom had made for her that morning, a juice box, and an apple.
"Hey," she greeted cheerfully, "do you mind if I eat with you today?" But before he could answer, she already unwrapped her sandwich and took a big bite. "Why do you eat here, by the way? You don't like the cafeteria?"
