The Velaryons seemed exceptionally good at dying. When her oldest brother passed away, he left behind a widow, left behind at Driftmark with the other women. Aerea had long since lost her dragon by then, and unable to join battle in a meaningful way, had been left behind to make of life what she would. And then the war had ended, but by then what was done was done. Her brother's wife was made a widow and left Driftmark, and Aerea had been so sunk within herself that she had not even said goodbye.Â
Aerea held no ill will towards Ellie, though she could also have been friendlier. With the coronation over and her continued presence in King's Landing, it was time to pay a visit to the woman who had once been family, even if it was not by blood. Ellie's brother was Hand now; altruism was not the entirety of Aerea's motivation. Continuing Velaryon interests was a larger part of it than she was willing to admit.Â
That day she came bearing gifts as she awaited entrance to Ellie's rooms. A bottle of perfume scented like the little flowers that grew on Driftmark, with an undercurrent of the sea air. Wine of some vintage, expected when greeting another. Little, inconsequential things. The perfume had been Aerea's idea, but the wine she let someone else choose.Â
"Lady Swann, I come with gifts. It has been too long since we have talked."Â @ellievswann
