PHM really got me tearing up while reading the Wikipedia page for rye rn.
Because the name Grace had symbolic significance, I thought Ryland would too.
Ryland means “from the rye land”, so I looked up rye to see if it was more interesting than I thought at first glance.
Rye (Secale cereale) is a grass grown extensively as a grain, a cover crop and a forage crop. It is grown principally in an area from Eastern and Northern Europe into Russia. It is much more tolerant of cold weather and poor soil than other cereals, making it useful in those regions…

It got me thinking about how my primary touchstone for rye is rye bread. Then in turn, bread is often a symbol for life and in the Bible, bread can be interpreted as a symbol for God’s grace. Then with the definitions for grace (ie “god-given help or kindness”, benevolence, or even mercy)…
You mean to tell me, Ryland Grace means “from the land of cold weather and poor soil, the gift of benevolence and life”. 😭

This bird fell out of its nest and was helped off the highway into a resident's yard. Per Gemini, "this bird is a fledgling or a 'brancher' given the abundance of downy, 'fluffy' feathers and the emerging adult plumage on the wings.
