It's not that he's embarrassed or denying his name but for all intends and purposes, he is playing a character, one he must wear as himself first and foremost. Which is why I personally don't think he'd be that comfortable sharing his real name, not only does he have a new image to upkeep, his name has far too much weight, be it emotional or symbolic, for him to share it freely. He should only return to his real name once the Aventurine persona expires but until then i think it'd take quite an amount of trust (that he doesn't easily put) to share his real name.
