jason stands at full height, scowling all over.  snarling, almost.  nico blinks in surprise, but holds his ground.  notes that grace held out with his temper only a little longer than the others.

‘ until you are bullet proof, explosion proof, poison proof — fucking crowbar proof, i don’t care WHAT your training means.  you make one mistake out there, and something catches you off guard, you don’t get a do - over.  you die at THIS age, and — that’s it.  that’s all there is. ‘

nico opens his mouth to argue, but jason is already walking away, muttering about telling chiron to lock the cave down.  he turns around only once to point at the boy.

‘ stay here. ‘

nico’s only response is to throw a dagger at the space where jason’s shoulder had been; the blade sticks right into the door as it slides shut.  frustrated, confused, he slams his weight back against the glass display.
