here are Atom’s relationships, p much everyone starts out as an Informant, but your muse can rapidly ascend the companionship-ladder if you want! i tend to like to get a good feel for your muse and you through a few threads or dm discussions before going right to friend, but if we’ve talked in the past i don’t really have an issue with just no-clipping through Informant and sustaining an incalculable amount of damage as our muses become Friends.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Informant - Atom isn’t one to get close with people, but he’s willing to make exceptions if he feels that the relationship can be valuable to him. He’ll still be polite, but don’t expect to learn anything about his past, or get an answer to any questions. [Expect terse and to the point conversations.]
Co-investigator - Like informant, this is a largely one-sided relationship. He appreciates help from others when he can get it, and greatly values the assistance of other investigators, but will be somewhat stand-offish until he can verify your intentions. He’ll also get a little salty if your muse fucks with his crime scenes. If he and your muse get along well, he’ll definitely call them up the next time a mystery presents itself to him. [Expect Pepe Sylvia level rants.]
Fellow Machine - If your muse is a robot, or is partly robotic, Atom will immediately trust them just a little bit more than he would an average person. He’s more likely to quickly befriend a robot then he is to befriend an organic. [Expect some sort of weird robot discussions.]
Friend - Deep down, Atom craves companionship. He tries his best to discourage it by self sabotaging every relationship he enters into, but if your muse sticks around long enough and proves to be someone who can look past his more morally grey moments, they’ll find a good friend in Atom. He tends to gravitate more towards robots/cyborgs in this sort of relationship, but ultimately he’s just looking for someone who can both challenge him and keep him grounded. [Expect buddy-cop shenanigans.]
Rival - Atom is a deeply competitive person, and tends to needlessly seek out arbitrary conflict. This is like more or less friendship: the sequel; he’ll still be playful but won’t hesitate to up the ante if things escalate. If a rival muse ends up in danger, he’ll protect them just as he would a friend, and values them just as much as he would his companions. [Expect banter.]
Found Family - Both rivals and friends qualify for this relationship. Atom never had a family unit back in Nowhere, so this is more or less the point at which he’d just flat out die for you if he needed to. He’ll fiercely defend any muse he considers family, often to the point of self destruction. If your muse has reached this point, it’s too late, you’re stuck with him until he perishes. [Expect fist fights in your name.]
Enemy - Anyone who overtly stands in Atom’s way, no matter their intention, has the potential to become an enemy. If this muse used to be a friend or a rival, he’ll feel more conflicted, and act slightly more aggressive, often desperate to end the conflict to avoid thinking about his emotions too much. If this muse is an informant or stranger, he’ll be cold and methodical, not stopping until he can insure the threat is no longer active.
Romance - Don’t do this to the man he struggles enough as it is just processing friendship, he’ll die, you’ll kill him. [Expect ?????]
