She crossed her arms and averted the woman’s gaze, scoffing as she did so. “How in the world would I be compatible with such an immodest, overweening, big-headed windbag? If you really cared so much about mortals, where were you when your oh-so-lovely Gilgamesh threatened to wipe out humanity?” She took a breath and attempted to regain composure. “And for the record, yes. I do care. Gods don’t just ‘hang out’ here without a reason.”

   "The flowers ?"

   It was no lie that anyone who knew Fleurette knew    that, for all her blindness, her passion and dainty    touch was channeled into gardening. The stretch of    the back of the house was filled with a vibrancy of    floral arrangements all planted herself and tended to    with such care. To be queried about it almost made    her heart quiver.

   When one cornered a beast, one must have    expressed the finality of understanding and    the resolute fragility of human life. A beast she    was not, but 'neath flesh lay tendrils and    fangs that oozed unabated with blood unbound.    Meticulous and thrashing, the beast was;    released in the effervescence of fear and danger.    Just like so.

   The experiment was frightened; thus close to    lashing out. Blood pounded in her ears.

   Nothing about this felt normal by any means.    Of sterility and machinery Fleurette was confined;    constrained then by men of science who were fated    to an indulgence of foolishness. They chanced themselves    as gods to that which they did not understand; to a prideful    nature when involved directly in the bastardisation of    science. A weapon ? Oh, but how true—it was all for    which she was purposed. Perhaps like many others.

   The albino canted her head; blind eyes motioned to the    vicinity of footsteps. Curious—she could not discern them    for age, gender... not like she could in instances of most.    But something felt vaguely familiar. The experiment made    no bid to move.

   Something did not quite feel right here; for this    instance served with an unspoken trepidation.    Even so, curiosity bested the experiment—and    whilst assistance truly was a necessity, satiating    that curiosity was also a need in turn; and thus    she approached.
