â + the estate
a headcanon about my muse
The house was built in the early 1500s to hold four or fivegenerations at a time. Even when it became the norm for kids to move out andstart their own lives, OâConnors were expected to stay and raise their familiesthere. Each couple was expected to have at least two children, main familydescendants expected to have three, and the size of the estate showed that, upwards of thirty bedrooms alone. Because the OâConnors were always upperclass, the ground floor has a large ballroom and attached dining hall with allits accoutrements, a sizeable foyer and salon, a music room, a billiards room,a drawing room, a solarium, an indoor pool, and a kitchen large enough to keepsuch a large family and all their assorted guests fed. The next floor up holdsseveral offices, a large library, and the rooms for the main family. Secondaryfamily rooms, as well as guest rooms, are on the next floor, and the top flooris used for the house staff; living and working rooms. The old horse stableshave since been converted into garages, and the groomâs rooms are now for thechauffeurs. Thanks to the age of the house, there are passages throughout thewalls so the servants could come and go unseen, hidden rooms used for storageso as to avoid cluttering the rest of the mansion.
Of course, after Ardalâs death, Sarika ratherquickly drove out the rest of the family still inhabiting the estate, paringdown the staff to only that which was absolutely necessary, and now this giant, multigenerational estate is inhabited by three members of the family and eightstaff members: Lorre and Ryan in the kitchen; Lee, Marita, and Lupe in thehouse; Gabrielle in the garden; Maks as Sarikaâs chauffeur and Adrian asBrookâs chauffeur/bodyguard.
