One little mistake. One little slip of her foot and a fall that she had not expected - it was all that it took to bring the brunette to this situation. To bring a hunter to her knees. Or at least they thought they would. Anna knew better than to show any sign of her weakness to the vampires that caught her. She had not made a sound of pain as they dragged her away from her freedom, as their rough, cold, stone-hard hands bruised her skin and pressed against the broken bones of her ribcage. Fighting off immortal beings was no easy tasks, usually left the humans with quite a lot of damage done to their bodies - but they could not give up. Not now. Not ever.
And so, even as the cold ones brought her to their cellars, as they threw her into the cold, dark holding room - she did not complain, did not cry, did not wail or beg for mercy. She just sat there in the darkness, leaning against the cold wall as she waited and waited, not once catching a blink of sleep. She knew better than to do that. To fall asleep in an enemyâs lair? â- SUICIDE.
The young woman snarled and trashed in their arms as they reached for her once more. This time though, they brought chains with them. SMART. She wouldnât have gone willingly anywhere. She still growled and glared at the pale creatures as they displayed her on the podium, making her scoff in disgust as she realised just what was going on. She was to be sold as a slave. Good riddance to the poor soul who would dare to buy her.
Anna did not lessen her glare. Not when she was forced into a bath, not when her hair was brushed and when she was put into pretty clothes - anything to please her new master. The brunette shook her head in distaste the entire time. How fast did it happen that her freedom had been snatched away, that she was forced into slavery.
The woman did not speak as she was lead into her new masterâs house, no matter how beautiful the design of the house was, she could not marvel at its wonders. Not when her life was crumbling beneath her feet. She smirked coldly though as the guards hesitated to give away the key and leave her alone with the other vampire, already knowing what she could do - the pain she could inflict with only a few seconds of freedom from the cuffs.
âAnna.â The brunette replied simply, looking away from the man, green eyes slowly scoping out the room, trying to find a way of escaping, plans forming in her head âI am not a slave.â
Reid didn't take his eyes off of the feisty human for a second. The guards were observed through his peripheral vision, but he didn't give any indication that their silent exchange had any effect on him. His lips did twitch with amusement at the smile that surfaced on her lips however. Cute.
As the guards left, the female vampire turned the key over in her hands, but she remained in place, waiting for Reid to make a move. She knew her employer well enough to know never to make assumptions where his actions were concerned. Even after a century in his service, he could still surprise her. Her green hues looked to the huntress curiously; she knew very well that Reid had never before purchased a slave at the auction.
Reid's eyes moved over his purchase as she spoke, a chuckle leaving him. "Oh, well then... my mistake. I could have sworn I just bought you at the slave auction." Tone playful, he took one step backwards to regard her for another second. "But don't worry. Since you were kind enough to give me your name, I'll be kind enough to use it." One of few kindnesses she'd experience in her time with him. He smiled wide enough to expose the tips of his fangs. "I'm Reid."
For the first time since she'd arrived, he took his eyes off of Anna to look at the female vampire. "Selene, some food for Anna." She pursed her lips for a moment, then handed the key off to Reid and left the room. Reid turned back to Anna with another smile. "Selene's not a big fan of hunters." He explained amiably, as though he and his employee owed Anna any sort of kind treatment.
He held up the key in front of her then, just out of reach. "I don't mind holding onto this, but I'm curious. What would you be willing to do to get rid of your chains?" He quirked a brow in challenge, smile wry.
