i don't know anything about the future. however, i do know this. you said that you want to save this world? it's the same for me too. actually ratio too perhaps
Ratio takes a long sip of his drink. Shylock made him some sort of light and fruity blend that tasted too good to be alcohol - which Ratio knew was terrible, and which is why he was only going to have the one glass no matter if the wizard tried to persuade him later. He did however have him educate him on the alcohol content, fruit names, if he served it often, did everyone like this, was it his signature, what was everyone's favorites - at least those that could drink - no wait let Ratio guess...
Somewhere along the lines, Akira had come in and taken their own seat at the bar. Ratio had noticed but not really, until Akira piped up with their own commentary. About how Faust would like this, or Nero would like that, and how he should talk to Figaro more to get to know him better...
To know All of them better...But it wasn't his place. No, his place was somewhere amongst those stars out there - If this was even the correct universe that he should be a part of. That studying their moon was simply a passing project; busy work while he also tried to figure out, through more studies on their technology and magic systems, how to break the atmosphere and be free of this land. That, despite his "attitude", of course he was going to teach young minds with curious questions. And no of course he wasn't going to make himself useless, heavy lifting for local building projects becoming his daily workout routine, and heading other projects by allocating tasks to meet everyone's talents and capabilities...
"...Saving and helping are two different things." Ratio says after a quiet moment, cheeks flushed slightly from his half-finished drink. "I'm not a savior. I never want to be one. Those that are "saviors" require too much pressure from others to achieve the near impossible; unavoidable expectations from both peers and themselves that amount to a sort of anxiety one lone person should not carry alone. Plus, those that are saved then only learn to be saved, and fall into a pit of ignorance that make it so they cannot think for or fight for themselves..." He pauses, takes another sip, and then sighs far too loudly. "...But I know that's not what you mean. I'm just nitpicking definitions, stating personal facts and hatred of phrasing, just to paint the picture for you." He states without being asked, taking another sip. His eyes droop softly when he - for the first time in the whole conversation - finally looks directly at Akira. "We both care about this world, despite not being from it, and want to help however we can. You've just been dealt a much more powerful yet intertwining hand, but even then its good to keep in mind that you aren't going towards your goal alone...I'm sure of both you knowing that and still putting pressure on yourself regardless. So you putting phrases I don't like in my mouth while also putting that responsibility on your shoulders annoys me greatly."
He downs his drink in one final gulp - or so he thinks, blinking and finding the glass still half full, glancing at Shylock at the far end of the bar, before sighing again. "Akira...You, rather, remind me of the Trailblaze...About how that Astral Express sails across the stars and makes stops in order to help devastated planets get rid of their diseases, in order for there to be newfound peace or a brand new era of beginning. And, like them, rather than shouldering it all on their own, every person they meet plays their part and saves themselves with their encouragement and aid." Another sip, another sigh, another glance Akira's way...with such a soft smile? "Who knows? Perhaps when all of this land's disease is gone and the moon shuts its eyes, THEY will gaze on you. Of course, that's also your decision on what to do with your life after everything is said and done as well."
