In this Grimoire Card he talks so much about how he is alone now and explains how being alone is the only way to win this battle between him and the Darkness. 

And he learned that from the Darkness. The Darkness is alone and it won. He was built to learn and learn he did that if he wants to win, he has to think like his enemy and he has to be alone and he cannot think of the consequences of being alone brings because the does the Darkness care about being alone? No. It doesn’t care about throwing its minions at us and how many die and if they lose because there is always going to be something stronger, something just as expendable as the rest, to use. It does not hurt being alone. It thrives.

And it’s slightly unsettling because even Rasputin speaks in one of his newer Cards that we are expendable and that he will bring down civilizations, planets, if it means finally ridding the universe of this enemy.

Is it all without remorse? Probably. It sounds like it in the Card, to be honest with you, which doesn’t really shine him in a good light. And with the recent events with the Sleeper + TTK it seems to me he has learned more from the Darkness and has started using us to an advantage. Especially The Guardian, who he has come to be fascinated with in a sense (as I explain in these posts).

At the same time, there is something in the first Card mentioned that catches my eye:

“At the end of things when the world goes dim and cold or hot and close or it all tears apart from the atom up I will shout those names defiant and past the end I will endure. I alone.”

In this Grimoire Card, Rasputin talks about formatting moral structures to this protocol. 

Rasputin rewrote his own code to favor survival over his duty to protect humanity. He pulled back all defenses and went to sleep, leaving us to the mercy of the Darkness.

By that description, it’s clear he is still following this rewritten code. He stills has his own plans in mind and by this Grimoire Card, it’s safe to assume it has to do with defeating the Darkness somehow.

How he plans to do so is where I fear things might get dark with the Warmind, but at the same time, given the events that have happened so far, it might not be as bad as I originally thought.

Now we’re talking about The Guardian, the whole story going in Destiny which makes your Guardian this legend that people talk about, that reminds you that you’re the top 1%. Rasputin sees something in The Guardian.

Before you were reborn, he was thought dead. A myth that stirred up every once and a while, but could never really be fully confirmed. You discovered him and now suddenly the City has this all powerful ally full of Golden Age secrets and incredible firepower behind them. He won’t talk to them, he’s even killed those that have tried, but he has some sort of fascination with you ever since you helped him open the array (which extended his reach to the planets beyond, making him even more powerful).

And he remembers this. He remembers everything.

Every time he needed help, you were the first one there. You saved him from Omnigul, the SABER, and even the Taken for that matter. You are an ally to him. I might even go so far as to say he respects you.

He still doesn’t talk to you. He doesn’t tell you what he’s doing, what he plans to do, or what he knows, but he clearly has some sort of trust in you. He has returned the favor of you aiding him by aiding you. He let you take the codes that would allow you to cloak without a fight. He gives you the Sleeper, which clearly is an extremely powerful weapon that (by reference to the hint in Banshee’s dialog) seems recently created. 

Perhaps he made the Sleeper for The Guardian?

Maybe you are part of whatever is up his sleeve now, whether you like it or not. You are as much of a weapon as he is and he knows it. So he takes advantage of it while simultaneously seeing you as someone he can rely on. The mission for obtaining the Sleeper was called “The Sleeper Stirs” and I think it’s pretty obvious by that name that something is going to happen with Rasputin soon. Either before Year 3 or even as the Year 3 extension. 

Ah! The meme had a list of words to pick from, but this kinda caught my eye for what little I know (and has been told) about the Seven Seraphs.

But I can’t really say I know enough for a headcanon.

The Seven Seraphs have a lot of lore speculation and all tie back to being connected to the Warminds. Some believe they ARE the Warminds, some believe they are a group INVOLVED with the Warminds. So far they haven’t really had a shred of mention since the pre-alpha days, but neither did (the Cult of) Osiris until the HoW DLC (if I researched correctly). So maybe the same will happen for the Seven Seraphs in the future?
