“Do you crave the storm, or just what it does to us?” jasper to guy :3 - @topshelfperverts
there's always something he can't untether himself from. much like a wound that doesn't heal, the aftershocks of his childhood were evident so often that he'd find himself wondering if there was a way to soothe it. medication hadn't fixed anything and embracing it always felt so far out of reach.
he recalls a time in his early youth, hearing the arguments between his foster parents. certain that love had to have storms to survive. that it only lasted for the long run if there was passionate conflict. admittedly, he'd been able to identify the flaws of that logic. he just couldn't help but crave the thunder in the background that meant he was at least in the conversation - involved but not loved.
so he'd spend his teen years and his early twenties seeking distraction, a benefit of distraction was supposed to be an ability to be able to leave one's thoughts behind but guy had a habit of winding up stuck with the thoughts of the people he'd used. stuck with their opinions on his lightning strike actions. another wound left open and now here came the vampire who'd smelt the blood.
" is this the part where I give you all the details of my life ? because really i'm not good at that..." he adds, an anxious shift in the way the question had left him with a shiver that lingered. making his gaze shoot up to look at the vampire. " but you wanted honesty right?" he lets the question settle in the room, attempting to put on some brave face. always aware he's one wrong word away from death or the door. he refused to be the bait that got bit. he breathes then, eyes moving up to look at jasper more directly. " my youth was spent among conflict – we're both smart enough to know what that does to a person..." for whatever reason it makes his throat dry but he doesn't look away. " I like specific storms, I like what they do. I don't know that i've ever been good at existing in silence because it means I have to listen to the thoughts of the people around me. "
