Mid-afternoon at the Mariposa CafĂŠ always brought a lull. The morning rush had been full of cranky people needing their coffee, the lunch rush with people bringing their children out for a bite or businessmen and woman grabbing something quick from their take out section on their all-too-brief lunch break. Mid-afternoon was almost always Jaimeâs favorite, though. With various flavored pound cakes and cheesecakes in the oven and an hour for them to cook, she got the chance to restock the dessert case with items sheâd made that morning. After that, she played waitress while one of the girls took their lunch break.
With her flour-dusted apron still secured to her person, Jaime grabbed the coffee pot from the drink station and put on her bright smile as she practically glided into the dining area. There were a few sparse patrons, mostly mid-meal, and Jaime made her way table to table before ending up in front of a semi-familiar face. Sheâd seen them before, and her smile only brightened. âHello! More coffee?â
