The young girl had been living with these people for a little over two years but in that time, they were nicer to her than her old family ever was. She really liked them, loved them even, regardless of whether or not they kept her for however much longer. Sky felt like she finally found a real home with them, especially with Cass. 

“I think you are,” she spoke softly as she looked up from her drawing. “the greatest mom...you are. You never had to say yes to keeping me...or even just letting m stay here. But you’ve always been nice to me  And you’re always here when I need you...even when I don’t think it’s okay to ask. You just kinda...know.” Sky fiddled with her colored pencil between her fingers, thinking about the words she wanted to say. “I know I’m not easy to take care of...and I’m really weird, like, super weird and stuff...but you don’t treat me like I am. You’re nice to me...and you don’t hit me, even when I might deserve it. I think you’re a really great mom, even if you’re not my birth mom...but I think sometimes that’s better. Because you chose to let me stay here with you... so I think you are the greatest mom. Your best is better than enough.”
