People have asked Alex if he feels hot when his plasma manifests, or if he feels powerful, or any other kind of sensation. They ask how it makes him feel and he’s never answered them honestly.
Truth is he gets a feeling of pure elation. It feels GOOD to let out energy, like a pressure release, a sneeze that was building or a laugh you’ve been desperate to muffle being shouted out.
He feels ecstatic and for a heartbeat he revels in the utter chaos he’s created, he feels a spark in his chest and fizzling over his skin- he always finds his lips moving to smile.
But then he steps back into reality and makes himself remember that this destruction is not a good thing and he shouldn’t adore it so.
Alex doesn’t like his powers for the longest time, even though they make him feel amazing.
I had this theory going with a Charles rper about how telepathy works and Alex’s immunity to radiation
The way we figured it, their HC was that telepathy works via low level radiation, can’t remember all the detail they went into but it was a cool idea and that people who have resistance to radiation also have resistance to telepathy. But given Alex’s is immune to radiation it would make sense for him to be immune to telepathy like Jubilee is. Only he isn’t. He really, really isn’t.
My counter theory is that Alex is only seems immune to radiation because he feeds on it: his body and mind, entire being, is always open to it and actually needs it. His body is gathering up everything it can get because it’s starved from the atmosphere blocking out the amount of cosmic energy it really needs. Telepaths have a fast track into his mind because his body sucks in the radiation they’re using for their telepathy- Alex has no defenses against something his body recognises as sustenance: in fact it’s inviting them in. Grasping and pulling for this radiation.
Telepaths can get pulled in without being all too aware of it, finding themselves getting a note of Alex’s thoughts more often than another person’s thoughts; say they were in a room with Alex and another person, they’d get an impression of Alex before the other person.
Alex’s brain and mind are wide open, like his body, to these energy waves...
and the people who ride them.
Theory #2 on why the ankh necklace used by the Children of the Sun only seems to affect Alex and be used on him:
Alex is the actual reincarnation of the dude it was made as a weapon against. Whether a Pharaoh himself or some noble man or whatever, Mutated ancient Egyptian person, a big enough enemy of someone powerful enough to make that kind of weapon against.
jfc the comics have casual clones, alternate realities, celestial beings, radical superpowers, aliens and time travel how far a stretch is reincarnation.
As my friend @mutantleaderinthemaking said, it would explain why it isn’t used on Scott and quite possibly doesn’t work on him, even though they’re brothers. Plus why the Living Monolith and fam seem to only be activated by Alex, not Scott or anyone else.

Mirny's power: Mirny's Empathy and Emotion Inducement is in part mental and in part physical. She can control the mental aspect of feeling, but mostly she is directing the hormones the body secretes and the chemical compounds needed to induce emotions. Because of this, some organs are within her control - such as heart beat and nausea - There was an incident later in her life where her life was threatened and in danger, with the barrel of a gun pressed to her head, in her panic she stopped a mans heart and killed him. Being the first time that anything of the sort had ever happened, she cried on end for days and felt horrible for what she had done even though her life had been threatened. She was sick for a while before she could swing out of her depression enough to care about herself.
