alice/lily
Who’s more dominant: Alice, definitely.
Who’s the cuddler: Lily, which is surprising considering how cuddly Alice is to begin with.
Who’s the talkative person: They both talk each others’ ears off; it’s pretty evenly matched (which Alice needs, considering she never shuts up)
What’s their favorite activity: Cooking! They’re constantly experimenting in the kitchen, and finding new favorite dishes. They also go to those lame couples’ cooking classes in the city and inevitably end up making too many jokes from in the back and get kicked out.
Who uses all the hot water: Both of them; they’re both masters of the bubble bath.
Thing(s) they fight over: …using all the bubble bath mix. trivial things, mostly.
Who does most of the cleaning: Alice. She’s a neat freak.
What sleeps while watching horror movie: They both tend to nod off halfway through, no matter what it is.
Who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Lily. She’s better at talking to people in a calm and nice way in order to get things fixed.
Who’s the reckless and destroys things: Alice, definitely. She’s a hothead, and consequences don’t exist.
Who does grocery shopping: They both take turns, since they’re both pretty avid cooks.
Who remembers anniversaries: Lily; Alice is a horrible scatterbrain.
Who cooks normally: They both cook together; it’s something that both of them love to do, so they save time and split the work.
How often do they fight: Rarely. They bicker every now and then, but it hardly ever comes to anything significant.
What do they do after fight: Whereas most would be inclined to take out all that adrenaline in the form of haphazard, mindless sex, Lily and Alice are notably more gentle with each other. It’s often a bath that does it, or a shower- anything together that calms the frayed nerves of a fight.
Nicknames for each other: Alice calls Lily “Lilypad”. Whether she hates it or not, she doesn’t know (and she doesn’t care; she thinks it’s adorable, at least).
Who is more likely to pay for dinner: Alice. She’s insistent when it comes to this.
Who kissed who first: Lily kissed Alice first; she was working on a case, all in a tizzy, and Lily just did it- perhaps to calm her down, perhaps to shut her up- maybe because she was drunk. But it was unexpected, and that’s what counts.
Who made the first move: Alice. After the kiss, she could never really look at Lily the same way. She was protective, affectionate- it was only a matter of time before she tired of seeing the younger witch with anyone else.
Who remembers things: Lily, mostly.
Who started the relationship: It was a mutual decision. They were fond of each other, and they’d been spending much time together- so it just happened.
Who curses more: ALICE
A head canon: As Lily is good at potions and Alice is good at Herbology, the two of them make quite the team when it comes to post-mission injuries. Alice comes home with bumps and bruises more often than not, but with the combination of their concoctions and Lily’s gentle hand, it’s all healed in no time.

♒
♒: my muse’s reaction to finding your muse bruised and beaten on their doorstep
The Longbottom household- if you could call it that- had been a painfully quiet one lately. What had once been full of life and banter was now empty and rife with the echoes of the footsteps of one woman and one cat, both of which hardly wanted to interact much with the outside world. When they were home, they were alone- when Alice was alone, she was quiet. And she was sure that nothing would change that. It felt strange, having people over to her flat, for it shocked her into the harsh reality that it was hers and not theirs anymore.
So whenever the doorbell rang- especially on rainy nights such as this one- Alice couldn’t help but be surprised. She froze mid-bite, the remnants of her takeout sliding from her fork and back into the container in her lap, brows furrowing and mouth hanging slightly ajar. Mary hadn’t called; Alastor was out of town on a case; Sirius and Remus were entirely missing in action; Alice couldn’t pinpoint who it might be, no matter how hard she tried. So, with a rueful glance back down at her dinner, she left it behind and padded toward the door, her cat peering out questioningly from the bedroom.
She could see nothing through the peephole; as far as she could tell, it had just been a prank, likely pulled by the Muggle twins who lived in the townhouse next door. Alice was half tempted to just leave it be, but something... something told her to open the door.
And she was immediately glad she did; on her doorstep was the crumpled figure of Lily Evans, porcelain skin colored purple and red with bruises and blood that seemed to have no source. Alice’s eyes widened, a gasp escaping her as she immediately dropped to the floor; her first instinct would have been to call Frank, but she could hardly do that now.
“Lily,” Alice pleaded, fingers gingerly quivering over her skin, pushing her hair away from her blackened eyes, “Oh shit. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.” She looked out into the blackened landscape, muddled by the rain and thick cover of clouds. With a deep breath, and a few more muttered, hasty expletives, Alice slid her arms beneath Lily’s fragile frame, using all the energy she could muster to lift her, although Lily weighed just about as much as she did.
Alice hurried inside, shooing the cat as she made for the kitchen, heart thrashing against her ribs as she set Lily onto the counter- after knocking a few plates and empty takeaway boxes onto the floor. “Lily,” Alice muttered, wiping a bit of blood from her brow, and cradling her cheeks in her hands, “Lily, hey, hey, please. Please wake up. Please.” Alice pressed her ear to Lily’s chest, suddenly praying to whatever God may have been listening, that her friend was still alive.
And when she heard a heartbeat and the sound of slow, heavy breathing, she was sure that someone had been listening.
meme; accidentally falling asleep together.
October 18, 1981Alice and Frank’s Flat
It seemed as if nothing could have been more medicinal than chocolate. Nothing could have soothed the broken heart that now occupied eighteen forty two, Turnmill Street than the largest box of chocolate either of them had ever seen, and a good, long binge of terrible Muggle cartoons. Lily loved them- apparently- as evidenced by the raucous laughter elicited from the redhead at every prat fall and corny joke. It was a laugh that had been sorely missed; it was a laugh, Alice realized, that she had not heard in a genuine capacity in years.
It was good to spend a bit of time with Lily, even if the circumstances were not the best. Alice had done her best not to say the word ‘James’ all night, and thus far had done a bang up job of keeping the conversation light and the redhead’s mind entirely elsewhere. This was one of Alice’s most beloved pastimes- making Lily feel better, no matter the circumstance. She was the closest thing Alice had to a little sister, and- after all- wasn’t it the big sister’s job to make sure the littlest was happy?
The sofa was almost not big enough for the two of them, but by midnight neither of them cared much. Between the two of them, a whole package of chocolates had been eaten, a box of cocoa mix, and a bag of chocolate-peanut-butter pieces annihilated in its entirety. But this was just the routine of Lily and Alice; whenever something went wrong- and it did, more often than not- the routine was the same; the outcome was the same.
And so it was no surprise that Lily fell asleep first, as Alice absently stroked her hair, her eyes only partially on the Muggle cartoon that occupied the television set that Alice had purchased just for occasions such as this one. She could tell that Lily had drifted, for her breathing had steadied and her laughter had quieted; and for once, it was for an acceptable reason.
“You know,” Alice muttered, gaze turned downward to a sleeping Lily’s face, her own voice so quiet, and so inaudible that she could barely even hear it herself, “I think I want to have kids. I know, I know- what a change of heart. But I’ve been thinking about it. And I’ve been reading books about babies. And of course, I’ve already been thinking of names.” She paused for a moment, looking back to the television set for a moment, then continued, eyes never moving, “Lily’s a beautiful name. Although, the poor kid might get confused if they hang around with an aunt with the same name all the time. Maybe...” she paused again, looking down to Lily’s serenely sleeping face, “Lillian Amelia Longbottom, for a girl’s name. But don’t tell anyone; it’s our secret.”
And she never told. And she never knew.
And then within minutes, Alice was asleep as well- and the entire one-sided conversation was forgotten.
