Her bravery. They’re both lions but there’s always been something about Lily that has made Marlene crave the bravery the red-head displays.

Most attractive physical feature:

Her hair. Marlene is loathe to admit that anyone has nicer hair than herself, but she makes an exception in Lily’s case.

Most annoying habit:

At the moment, it’s her being dedicated to the Order. Marlene wants nothing more than for Lily to walk away and stay safe while Janus ends the war, but she knows that Lily never will.

Mouth. Whether she smiles or exclaims in surprise, Lily really has a beautiful mouth.

Indecisiveness, seriously! How can anybody work with that?

Something they would like to do with them:

He’s drunk. No, he’s very, very drunk. He has a sparkly red top hat sitting on the top of his head, a muted red shirt he’s borrowed from Remus, and there’s red paint on his face. Needless to say, the Gryffindors have won the latest Quidditch match and Sirius is soaking in the celebrations. By  2AM, there are already five empty bottles of firewhisky that they’ll have to clean up before the morning comes, and most people have left their room. He’s taking his final swig when a familiar song hits his ears – 

It’s late in the evening; she’s wondering what clothes to wear… 

Without hesitation, Sirius jumps on a nearby table, and when he sees a familiar redhead nearby, he shouts her name, telling her to come over. “May I?” He bows, taking Lily’s hand into his and helping her onto the table with him. Sirius carefully puts a hand on her waist, and holds her hand with his other one, lazily swaying side to side to the music. 

…And I say, “Yes, you look wonderful tonight.”

And because he’s prone to making bad decisions when he’s so wound-up, Sirius turns to James (who possibly might be scowling at him) and winks, and he suddenly realizes he shouldn’t multi-task when he’s so pissed because he takes a step back a little too far and loses his balance – 

 – when he falls, he hits his head on the bedpost, and barely remembers a thing when he wakes up the next morning. 

July 22nd, 1979The Great Hall, Hogwarts.

This was it, the day they’d been waiting for since they arrived at the school seven years ago. Their last real day at Hogwarts and they were all together, sitting and filling an entire row in the chattering chaos that was their year. Marlene squeezed Lily’s hand in excitement, anticipation filling her features. This was when their life began, they could do what they wanted outside the limits of a timetable and Marlene was going to do it all and have her friends by her side the entire time.

The ceremony was over and now all that was left was to go back to their dorms for their final night before getting on the train for the last time. Still, Marlene held Lily’s hand tight, laughing and hugging their friends in excitement. They didn’t know yet if they’d passed, wouldn’t find out until the summer, but it didn’t matter because if Marlene believed in anything, she believed in her friends. They’d all succeed, all of them, and they’d go on to do amazing things.

The laughter and idle chattering failed to cease, only getting louder as they approached the common room where they’d organised a party because there was no way Marlene was going to finish the year without a bang. And still, she held Lily’s hand tightly. Her best friend, the one she told everything to, the one she could always depend on.
