Acts of service and physical touch, as per Chapman’s love languages.

Not generally a touchy person—Minato cares a lot about his personal space, his bubble—it may be a bit surprising to see that Minato turns to physical touch when his words fail him, but, at the same time, the admission makes so much sense. He would rather show other people his affections, be it through touch or actions. 

As much as he hated parting with his favorite accessory—yellow was the color of happiness and sunshine and warmth and life and made his uniform less bland—he would always willingly part with it for Makoto. 

But when Makoto managed to snatch his scarf before Ryoji noticed, the raven would always end up wandering around their home until he found the Messiah. It wasn’t surprising in the least when he found the lump the bed, Makoto curled up and bundled under the blankets, the ends of the scarf poking out from underneath. 

It was cute.

Ryoji couldn’t help but smile, making his way over and leaning over the lump to place a kiss on where he guessed Makoto’s head was.

Hmm, specific individuals that Minato really cares about, though, and would readily take their places, though…

Mitsuru, definitely. 

Of the members of SEES, my muse is closest to Mitsuru (specifically, @niflheimqueen‘s) and Aigis. While he cares about all of them deeply, Mitsuru is the one he would not hesitate to die for. He may be concerned for Aigis’ well-being, but he knows she is a robot and cannot die in the same way humans can. Additionally, while Junpei is his best friend, taking a bullet for Akihiko or Junpei is a blow to the boys’ pride.

Ryoji. God, Ryoji.

Even before Minato and Ryoji remembered his role, the two of them had—begrudgingly, on Minato’s part, at first—become best friends. They had inexplicably been drawn to each other, unable to keep their distance, a result of being literal soulmates. Ryoji understands Minato so well, even when Minato himself does not, and is so selfless, especially when it the protagonist is involved. 

It hurts Ryoji so much to regain the knowledge of his role as the Appraiser of Death, the Harbinger of the Fall. The knowledge is suffering. Ryoji is so sweet, loves the world so much, loves his host will all his heart—Death in love with Life—that he pleads for Minato to kill him, desperate for anything that could lessen the pain of humanity’s future. 

Ryoji asks Minato to kill him, but Minato would die for him.

Minako/Hamuko/Kotone

Twin!verse, siblings!verse, or even a FMC from a parallel universe… Minato’s stubborn and he would absolutely choose to die for her (Great Seal or otherwise) if he could. If given the choice, Minato believes that it is better if she survives over him. Her personality just makes it so much better for her to continue living, inspiring people, bouncing back from the sorrow and living life to the fullest. Heck, she deserves it.

Yu Narukami (@jijitsu’s muse in particular)

In regards to Yu/Souji in general terms, Minato knows that Yu is a Wildcard. He can see how charismatic he is and how much his friends love and care for him, and Minato truly believes in Yu’s abilities as a leader. If Minato fell, Yu would be more than capable to take his place.

@jijitsu‘s Yu defaults to our Gekkoukan AU verse, in which Yu was Minato’s underclassman and part of SEES. Minato loves Yu and absolutely dies for his future.

Makoto Yuuki (@lyriicalstring - Twin!verse(s) but probably other verses as well, but mostly twin)

As much as Minato and Makoto like to troll each other, they genuinely care about each other and want the best for each other. I’m sure they would both be willing to die for the other.

VISUAL ATTRACTIVENESS: 💗💗💗💗💗(As much as Minato hates the bowlcut, it looks good on him. Yu manages to look confident and masculine while retaining a soft face and a gentle personality, which Minato appreciates very much, but Minato definitely prefers seeing Yu act more assertively. As Yu gets older, too, he loses some of his baby face, grows more masculine and tall and becomes really fit. Minato really appreciates how Yu’s body filled out and how toned he got.)

FRIENDSHIP LEVEL: 💗💗💗💗💗(Minato trusts Yu a lot. Amy’s Yu muse, in particular, is very dear to him and a close friend because they experience the Dark Hour together. Yu’s calmness and personality tended to make him very refreshing to talk to, and Minato didn’t feel so guarded around him or feel like he had something to fix.
