Hoenn - Pokemon - Meteor Falls Dragon Village
Drake is not a native to the region, but he protects what remains of the indigenous people of the Dragon Village. Thus, the Navy fleet finds home at Meteor Falls as well.
Although there are only two tiers to the challenge, Drake is not always at Meteor Falls--you'll need to find him--but that is a challenge in of itself.
Battling the Dragon Leader
“Slaying” the dragon
For the second task, a challenger must battle a dragon (only with one pokemon companion), ensare it, and make a connection with the dragon by sharing a scent of his/her blood. If the dragon accepts the challenger, it will yield. If it does not, it will kill the challenger. The dragon leader provides the person with an ensnaring device (a really strong net) to help with keeping the dragon down (since we don’t have pokeballs). They have to keep it pinned somehow so that it can take a whiff of the challenger’s blood. The typical way of doing it is ensnaring it so it’s lying on the ground, having the companion pokemon help keep it down, and either sitting on its neck or in front of it while slashing the hand or showing an already open wound to present the blood.
Only one dragon comes out. Each dragon-type in a region represents something different in the village and says something about the challenger in the event s/he succeeds.
In Hoenn, the following Dragons may show up during the challenge:
Altaria: represents serenity and grace. Very friendly, but dangerous when overexcited.
Salamence: represents determination and rage. The most feared of the three.
Flygon: represents diligence and spirit. Usually frightened/defensive and moves fast.
Flygon tend to migrate when they breed (kind of like turtles). They leave their eggs on what is modernly known as Route 11, buried in the sand. Trapinch (which are solely ground types), when they hatch, instinctively know how to get back "home" to Meteor Falls. However, people may encounter Trapinch before they evolve into Vibrava or Flygon, so this is another way one might end up with a Flygon. Trapinch are rather hard to come by, though, as they instinctly know how to survive in harsh conditions and protect themselves from intruders.
