Preparing Images to Print
The printer is 44” wide by however high, that means you can make a lot of different sizes. Most students start with a 11”x43” image size printed on a 12″x44″ piece of paper. This size will give you a 1/2″ border all the way around your images.
1) In Photoshop go to File-New
2) Follow the picture above to make a 11″ x 43″ image file size.
Follow these Settings:
Width 43″
Height is 11″
Resolution: 300 (no more!)
Color Mode: RGB Color (DO NOT choose Grayscale even if your images are black and white. It will not work on the Canon printer! DO NOT use CMYK it will not work on any printer!)
8 bit or 16 bit - Choose the right one for your images. (Every camera is different. To check your images open them in Photoshop then go to Image-Mode at the top. Look at what setting is checked 8 bit or 16 bit. Make your new Canvas the bit that matches your images.)
Color Profile: Adobe RGB (1998)
3) Open all the images you want to print in Photoshop and do the following to each image.
4) Add a Layer of Contrast and do any final adjustments.
5) Go to Layer-Flatten Image
6) Confirm that your file is in the Adobe RGB 1998 Color Space by choosing Edit-Convert to Profile - see picture below
7) Go to Image-Image Size (choose your desired image height and width and make the resolution 300, no more!)
8) Go to Filter-Sharpen-Unsharp Mask (do not over sharpen!)
Putting it Together & Finishing Up
9) Move each of your images into the Print Layout File
10) Flatten your Print Layout File and save it as a .tiff file. (This is very important since the Canon printer can only take .tif files.)
11) Bring your Print Layout File (.tif file type) to school on a USB drive that is capable of working with a MAC.

Note: On a 12″ x 44″ Print (paper size) allows you to print approximately 3 - 11”x14” prints, or 5 - 8”x10” (these sizes are just examples, your final images will likely be a different size depending on your camera's aspect ratio).
