sm entertainment, one of biggest entertainment agencies in korea, has announced the debut of a new rookie group.

sm entertainment said on may 19th, “the contemporary band shinee will be revealed for the first time through their official website on the 19th."

according to sm, shinee is a contemporary band composed of five male high school students - including jonghyun, minho, taemin, onew and key - who are between fourteen and eighteen years old.

sm said, ”the contemporary band is a team that will present and guide current trends in all aspects of music, dance and fashion. in the future, shinee will not only present their own trendy music, like with their contemporary band title, but they will also show a contemporary appearance in fashion.“

sm also said, ”in particular, at the age of fourteen, member taemin is an ambitious middle school student dancer. experts will be amazed at their remarkable dance skills and new performances.“

shinee will release their first mini album, along with a music video, on the 22nd, and plan to start their broadcasting activities in earnest.
