Another WIP for "𝐴𝑓𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝐸𝑙𝑝𝑖𝑠" comic

Like, Ava is in charge of the military/security side of things (she's also having an affair with Stratt). In their search for Hail Mary candidates, Ava remembers a certain convict who is about to get out of jail, and used to be a damn good pilot. Simon agrees begrudgingly. His history with Ava might be complicated, but its not like he's got any life to go back to.

So now Simon is the back up pilot. He meets Grace, and damn it if he's not cute when he gets yapping. And its not like Grace's awkward self is acting normal around this gorgeous guy. So they get close, and basically start dating (unspokenly official, bc they're both weirdos). Its fine, right? Grace isnt gonna be on the mission, and Simon probably won't either. And its not like anyone cares what Dubois and Shapiro are up to.

Then, BAM! DuBois and Shapiro die in the lab explosion, which also took out Yao, who had been on his way to say something to Dubois. Their primary pilot is dead, so Simon has to go in his place. And Grace is forced into DuBois and Shapiro's position.

Simon and Ilyukhina are told that they haven't seen Gracd leading up to the launch bc he's being swamped with last minute training, and then that he chose to be sedated to make thinks go easier.

When they wake up, Ilyukhina is dead, and Grace is suffering amnesia. Simon is briefly very scared because, dammit, the first person to care about him in YEARS doesn't remember him? Grace starts getting memories, though, so he decides it's probably temporary. Coma side effect.

The teacher, whilst everyone else is setting up, comes to your desk and kneels down and tells you that it’s nice to meet you and tells you that although he may look scary, don’t be afraid to ask him for help. You start to enjoy your lesson and true to his word, your new scary looking teacher is happy to help you with your work. He also notices that you’ve secretly been doodling and you explain to him that it helps you concentrate and he lets you as he knows what it’s like.

“My husband has to be doing something when he rambles about science.”

You go to your next lesson. It’s science. Your science teacher doesn’t know how to wear his glasses properly but you find that funny. He does the same as your previous teacher, tells you that you have nothing to be scared of and that they like playing games in class but they also add that your previous teacher of that day has told him about you and you don’t know whether to panic or not.

You end up having fun in your science lesson, doing experiments and soon it’s the end of the day. You’ve made some new friends and you’re happy.
