Please enjoy this juicy gossip I can’t share with anyone who actually knows this person:

Grumpy Old Man (GOM) pulled me aside late last week to tell me the latest.

Background: One of the things GOM has been told about this married boyfriend is that he’s a former cop from somewhere else (Detroit? Chicago? I don’t remember.) The boyfriend won’t watch cop dramas with this woman because he finds their lack of accuracy irritating. It also means he points out things like he could have friends do background or license plate checks on people (a slight threat to her and to GOM).

PI Discovery: He’s currently a mechanic for a package delivery company and has never been employed by law enforcement in any way, let alone as a cop.

Background: The boyfriend has promised many times that as soon as he works things out with Medicare to get his mother into a care facility, he will leave his wife for this girlfriend. She has told GOM that she doesn’t want that anymore but still wants to wait until that process is complete before she leaves him because it’s very stressful. She is frequently updating GOM on the boyfriend’s tales of this arduous process.

PI Discovery: The mother has been deceased since February 3rd.

GOM thinks he’s going to bring these findings to the girlfriend as exposed lies and she’s going to immediately shut the boyfriend out of her life.

I’m less optimistic.

I think it’s very possible these are lies she’s told to GOM rather than lies the boyfriend has told to her.
