What is and isn't written in the novel Frankenstein

This post is all about what's and what's not stated clearly in the novel.
It's against many popular beliefs about Frankenstein on the internet, but it's not meant to limit your freedom of creation. (Unless your creation is dead bodies that are stitched together and become alive) (I'm joking)
The phrase "the Adam of your labors", quoted countless times on the internet, never existed in the novel, and it's likely invented by Wikipedia.
You could download the novel from Project Gutenberg. When you search inside, it's a fact that there's no phrase such as "the Adam of your labors".
The phrase appeared on Wikipedia on July 6, 2007, and it wasn't found on Google before that.
The monster said, "I am thy creature; I ought to be thy Adam," and "thy (your) Adam" is obviously a figurative language, which means the monster is not named Adam by anyone.
"You Are My Sunshine" is not a song about humanized electromagnetic radiation but about someone whose existence makes the person happy, and the man who has "Eye of the Tiger" is not an anthropomorphic male panthera tigris.
Also, there's no reliable source for the rumor that Mary Shelley stated the monster's name as Adam. On the other hand, at least it cited a book as a source that Mary was happy about the monster being nameless in the first stage adaptation of the novel.
The fact that the monster once referred to Victor as "my father" is the only evidence supporting the claim that the monster sees Victor as his parent or that Victor sees the monster as his son directly (and it's likely just a religious term for Yahweh).
The monster has read Paradise Lost, and he compares himself with Adam and describes Adam's relationship with Yahweh as "he had come forth from the hands of God a perfect creature, happy and prosperous, guarded by the especial care of his Creator."
He also said "I learned from your papers that you were my father, my creator" and "my father, my creator" corresponds with "thy Adam" and "thy creature".
"Father" (any nouns are capitalized when it refers to Yahweh) is a religious term frequently used in Paradise Lost, so the monster's line could read as "you were my god, my creator".
It's possible that the fact the term "my father" is lined up with "my creator" means nothing and the monster is just a sad big boi who wants to play a catch or any other activity that sounds more European with his dad (at least he's clearly sad about his lack of childhood), but I think we should consider the parent/child aspect as an interpretation rather than a fact that states the minds of characters.

Sarumarine (Zoness boss) is saru (monkey) and sabumarin (submarine).
Saruja and Sarudesu (Shogun and Shogun Warriors/Sector Y bosses) Saruja puns with soldier (sorujā). While both names are proper nouns, it could be read as saru (monkey) and ja or desu (copule), and the -desu copula sounds more noble, and I think it intentionally shares the pronunciation with death, which fits the 4th graders "named with something cool or intimidating" aesthetic of Japanese robots.
Man Drill (Copperhead Missiles/Sector Z boss) mandrill, a kind of monkey, and drill is for its penetrative function.

There’s no difference in dialogue. Maybe it’s just a difference in VA’s voice or capability of tones rather than a choice.

Oh boy, a show which tries to express the diversity of humans will not turn into your comforting patriotism p0rn just because it has copious amounts of gun shooting scenes. Queer people are everywhere. Even though they’re mostly misrepresented, and isolated from the main characters.
Make the things clear
The franchise of CB has many uses of the F-slur or “amab people wearing a dress with beard or five-o'clock shadow” stereotype (the hooker Julian for example), which means the confusion of androsexual/androromantic transfem people with cross-dressed gay people, a typical transphobic view and a misunderstanding about gay identity in Japan.
One of the rumors about Ed in Jamming With Edward, the line “he’s a drag queen” is originally the F-slur. Substituting "drag queen" for the F-slur or stereotype camp gay characters (often called by the F-slur) is a common way of Western localization. The term usage is inaccurate and it will not fix anything, but at least the term is not a slur.
I don’t like people making fun of something they don't even know what it actually is.
I’m not saying Watanabe intentionally being aggressive, but his view of queer people is prejudiced, or simply weird.
There are some people being nonbinary and gay at the same time or being gay and enjoying drag/dress feminine, or realize their true identity in later life. Even some gay people in Japan (speak/act in valley girl manner or not) call themselves with F-slur or/and using female pronounce jokingly because they feel they're not completely masculine person, although the most of them are identifying themselves as male.
The facts make things more complicated, but it's just a matter of the importance of awareness.

Watanabe reused the “acquired hermaphrodite people'' four times, and all of them are physically feminized amab people: Gren/Grencia (Macross Plus novel adaption), Gren in CB, Dahlia and Desmond in Carol & Tuesday.
A half of them, Gren and Desmond are kind…of…a wrong metaphor, or a ”rationalization*” of gay attraction?
As if it's explaining gay attractions are like ”they attract to male because they’re partly female”, even though their body have feminized after they realized their affection toward another man.
* “rationalizing” gay affection by making them hermaphrodite is a trope in manga, like Satan (Devilman) and Sailor Uranus (Sailor Moon.)
Gren/Grencia and Dahlia are trans women, they accommodate their identity to their feminized bodies, while Dahlia is blackmailed by a hacker to he’ll outing she’s physically hermaphrodite, mutated by the radiation of Mars.
Desmond has the same disease as Dahlia, but identifies themself as androgyny (nonbinary in dub, intersex in sub) and explains they feel being androgyny is like a fetus, the ideal form of humans.
People in reality change their body to express themself comfortably, and people in watanabe’s mind experience their physical change unwillingly, then their identities follow to the body.
I think the idea "gender is gravitating toward physical status" is the opposite of transness, but it’s not a usual trans denialism which claims “people can’t change their identities”.
It’s weird, but at least it approves of the unlimited possibility of humanity.

The only disproof against the assumption that he’s gay is the fact he's identifying himself as “both man and woman” or “neither man nor woman”.

In either case, he’s capable of attraction to men, and it’s clearly implied.
Isn’t the line ”I’m not interested in women” the most obvious and overused yet indirect way to tell someone as you’re gay?
A man giving a sentimental gift such as music box for another man is not enough gay? (though it’s just a way how he manipulates people)

The “Oh he just stabbed a scorpion” scene is also hinting, or a metaphor of Gren’s racing heartbeats, it’s a kind of... kabedon for totally straight mcmanly comrade bros?
The true intention of the “a transmitter in the music box” thing is unclear, but the keyword “Julia”, the name of a song which the music box plays, means his mixed feelings towards Vicious; longing and hurt.
He also understands Julia’s feeling when she stares at Spike in the eyes, which is only described as “strange” in the English version, but it’s more like “wondering”, some sort of romantic attraction.
The reason why he's one of the three people who stare at Spike in the eyes is that he can feel the same attraction as straight women.
"Ed is not nonbinary! She’s a girl!"
Being okay with their assigned gender/pronounce doesn’t mean they’re not gender queer, she’s like unconsciously gender-nonconforming in canon, as a part of her eccentric personality.
Ed’s gender nonconformity is more clear in Japanese since she uses her name as the first personal pronoun instead of usual boyish or girly ones like ore/boku/watashi, and Watanabe said gender is meaningless for her*, though I think it’s rather the definition of what the individual she is than a firm evidence of how she related to the real world.

There were the hacker kid Ed (a boy with dreadlocks and deep toned skin) and the nonverbal cat-like-natured girl Bibi in the presentation document of “Swing the Bebop”, one of the WIP titles of CB, but when the boy hackers become a thing in media, they made the hacker kid Ed a girl by giving them the appearance of Bibi.
Maybe the “acquired hermaphrodite people'' is a part of the concept of "surpassing humanity". I think he liked the idea that casting nonbinary actors for live action Gren and Ed, and I hope Watanabe could put more realistic queer characters in his future project.

Reassigning ethnicity and cultural localization is also a form of translation/adaptation.
For example, the line "Randy, Blanket, and Hills" in Wild Horses is a part of baseball references, but it’s harder to notice than the “Blue Socks” one for foreign people.
It’s a parody of Randy Bass, Kakefu Masayuki, and Okada Akinobu; the baseball players who played in Japan and they’re also the three big figures of the victory of Hanshin Tigers in 1985.
The names Blanket and Hills was taken from literal translation of 掛布 ("a cloth to cover" or "covering with a cloth") and 岡田 ("a rice field in the hills"), and the line "They won the league 14 years ago" is also a nod to the victory of Hanshin Tigers in 1985, which was 14 years before the original air of Wild Horses.
If you want to tell the joke in another language/country, you need to “translate” the essence of it. If you don’t like the translation, just watch the original.
To be honest, I like the “translation” about Jet in the live action, though it can be called “simplification” too, but I think his domestic nature (not only his conservative view about women, he has a obviously women-like role on the ship. I really want to talk about it, but keep it for later) is hard to recreate, and it’s a good opportunity to “modernize” the franchise since the live action is made in an American studio in the 2020s.

It’s funny to see a nerd (who basically bashing everything about the live action because “it’s not same as anime”) gets mad like “live action Alisa is cheating bitch blah blah...” when I already saw other nerds bashed anime Alisa for “not being mindless doll” aka just left from her boyfriend because their relationship is not a equal one and she want to change it even if the way she choose was reckless. They just can’t stand a woman who has her own mind.
I think the change is not about Alisa but Jet, because she’s still a little helpless woman who needs somebody she can rely on to raise her child, and being bossy to your partner means you're a terrible person in 2021. Isn’t it obvious? They made him a “less messy” person and emphasized his sweet side. Maybe it was a bit much, but they know the truth: Jet+kids=best.

Additionally, Shakir’s acting is better than the Japanese dub.
Though the Japanese dub is one of the greatest points of the live action; the localization staff gathered almost all of the original cast of the anime and it’s like a huge reunion, yet the absence of Ishiduka (Jet’s original VA) hurts me a lot.
It doesn't matter that the VA's voice doesn't sound like the original because there’s no perfect replacement for Ishiduka, but the VA's way of speaking doesn't sound like the original, and it makes itself hard to watch.

Let’s talk about “ethnic ambiguous anime people” trope (again)
"anime people" trope is not only about a girl with orange hair and green eyes.
I think none of the four main characters are white in the anime, since it's unlikely that any of them have certain genetic ancestry from Europe. They’re Asians with English names or some kind of ethnically ambiguous anime people.
It’s weird that having characters with unusual names in the world trying to portray many kinds of ethnicity, maybe Japanese audiences want to have the main casts in the future world who are not culturally familiar but look familiar to them, I think. If the creators use the names which sound Asian-like, it would turn them off, like “ordinary biblical names everywhere in a medieval fantasy world”.
Most people from Eastern Asia consider themselves to have rather fair skin (and it causing discrimination against people with deep toned skin.) While the "average" skin color of anime characters symbolizing our biased view and ignorance about the people live in Japan, white people can't take over a character's identity just because they have pale skin.
It's not like "they claim the character in the gakuen-genre with a Japanese name is white" things, but I'll say it again for last, they're never been white.

I think it’s okay that the box of takoyaki he eats in Dog Star Swing looks like some store-bought cheap stuff, since they're eating store-bought cheap stuff all the time in the anime.
The problem is, the package of takoyaki doesn't look like cheap stuff in the 2070s.
In the anime, the package of cheap stuff like Piyoko tends to be a rush of information because they’re trying to be appealing for as many customers as they can, the staff put multiple languages in every product as the symbol of a borderless future. The lack of passion in details is a little irritating.
