God, remember when the first episode of Yuri on Ice straight-baited?

We get a shot of a woman in her twenties, with a focus on her ass, and then she looks at the camera with a cute expression. And you’re like, oh, okay,, the love interest is here. Yuuri says, “she’s still as pretty as ever” and you find out that they’re childhood friends through a series of flashbacks. In one flashback she’s defending Yuuri from their third rinkmate who bullies Yuuri for being chubby. He skates for her, implying what he’s about to do is so intimate and personal that he’s only comfortable with her watching, and she gets emotional during the performance (which is a program about love and longing and loneliness). Yuuri finishes skating, and is about to confess something……

And then over the course of the next two seconds we meet her DAUGHTERS (toddlers Axel, Lutz, and Loop), and her HUSBAND (their third rinkmate) and Yuuri just starts monologuing about Victor again instead of lamenting the fact that Yuuko is married with three children

And then nine episodes later Yuuri is engaged to a man. So like
