As of today, 29 February 2020, AO3 has been blocked by Chinese censors - allegedly (but not confirmed) because the website was reported for RPF of an actor that fans of said actor found it distasteful and harmful. This was one of the last pockets of Chinese internet communities that was truly connected to the social platform of the rest of the world.

They consulted MULTIPLE EXPERTS on whether it’s true that people under 25 “aren’t mature enough” to consent to sex “because their brains aren’t done developing yet.”

(Answer: False and also the experts are kind of concerned that this viewpoint is being advocated for at all)

One of their experts, a professor of pediatric medicine and expert on lifespan development, said:

Unlike driving a car, voting, drinking alcohol, or buying a firearm, sexuality is an integral part of human development. If we decided that the age of consent was 25 (which is a sort of arbitrary cutoff developmentally but the car rental companies like it based on actuarial tables), we’d be undermining social, romantic, and sexual development. That’s probably creating more problems than it’s solving.

All the stuff about Macaulay being a has-been who can’t find work is untrue. He’s still persued for acting parts but is very selective about which projects he gets involved in. He’s turned down roles that went on to make millions, including a lead in The Big Bang Theory. He has no regrets about passing on those roles and says his happiness is worth more to him
