This illustration is a parody of the famous Doraemon meme panel where he listens to music.
The image quality is intentionally low because the original meme image I was parodying is also low quality. I wanted to recreate that aspect of it as accurately as possible.
The song shown in the second image is the ending theme from Yo-kai Watch Psychic Specters.
This song holds a very special place in my heart. When I listened to it again for the first time in years, I unexpectedly found myself in tears, and that was what inspired me to draw this piece.
Twelve years ago, when I first played Yo-kai Watch, I was still in elementary school. Back then, I simply thought, āThatās a nice melody,ā and didnāt pay much attention beyond that. But hearing it again as an adult was a completely different experience. The lyrics are truly beautiful.
It brought back memories of summer vacations I had almost forgotten: visiting my grandmother in the countryside surrounded by rice fields with my Nintendo 3DS in hand, gathering with friends at the park to play "Yo-kai watch BUSTERS", begging my parents for Yo-kai Watch toys and medals at Christmas, and even sneaking out of school with my younger sister in December to go see the movie. So many wonderful memories came flooding back.
I believe this song was created to help those of us who have grown up look back and think, āAh⦠those days really did exist.ā Itās a song that brings back the feeling of those mysterious, unforgettable summer adventures. In a way, it feels like a small gift from Level-5 to the fans who returned to the game years later.
I am genuinely saddened that the gameās localization and distribution outside Japan were so limited. I hope that people all around the world will one day have the chance to experience the same wonderful game and memories that it gave me.
I also hope that Yo-kai Watch will someday receive a remake on the Nintendo Switch.
This ended up being much longer than I intended, but Yo-kai Watch truly changed my life. It is a game that I will always, always love.
This might be a bit of a shameless recommendation, but please give āćÆćÆć¬ćæćØć«ććć ć· (Kuwagata to Kabutomushi)āa listen if you get the chance. And if possible, Iād love for you to check out the translated lyrics as well.
Feel free to save this artwork!
If youād like, tell me which Yo-kai Watch song is the most memorable to you in a reblog or reply. Iād love to hear your memories.
