political schism at the dragon races because one of them painted herself with trans colors for the june first race
as far as she’s concerned this is bullshit. she’s literally trans. the race is literally called the queer pride invitational. what the fuck is the problem here hmm
upon consultation with the race's management, it turns out that a few of the dragon/jockey teams complained that an openly transgender dragon was competing and raised concerns that she would have an advantage as a biological male. they were sternly reminded by event management that not only is this a unisex sport categorized by speed class and not sex, all three dragons involved with the complaint have higher wing area:mass ratios than their competitor and thus are seeded higher than her anyway
after one of the briefest meetings they've ever had, management has decided to let her race! bets on #31 have gone through the roof. any publicity is good publicity, and the fans of dragon racing tend to be very queer, so as soon as the news she was still in the competition broke, everyone swarmed her betting stall
she got second place! #6 swept the whole thing but everyone sort of suspected she would so 2nd place is really good! and she beat all three pairs who complained about her, winning at a 3:1 payout!
