Being a theatre nerd is really funny because it makes up about 70% of my general listening playlist, which I also listen to while writing. Like, why am I listening to Falcon in the Dive from the Scarlet Pimpernel while Ryland Grace and Simon Iron Lung are going freak 4 freak in my google docs
I just started writing my first stuntdriver fic and the opening line is,
“Casey hated getting to know people. His job was driving. He drove. He’s driven since he was sixteen and will drive until the doctors say he can’t anymore.”
using 4/5 versions of the word drive and 2/2 drive series titles in the first line of a Driver fic is a feat I think. Love you Casey “Driver” Daley

This is going to take a lot longer to plan than my current fic project, but I do have a new idea I’d like to share with the public!
The idea is that I take all of the character personas in Cutting Corners (My current Bloodymary fic) and put them in the PHM universe. Grace is the scientist, Rocky is the engineer, and Simon is the pilot. They each wake up at different times in the story though. Grace wakes up first, and then Rocky when the Blip-A comes into the story, and I haven’t decided what to make of Simon’s awakening yet.
The one issue with this that I have is I can’t really make it first person. Each character is going to have their own arcs over the course of the story, ending them in the same places that they are when Project Hail Mary and Iron Lung end. I find it difficult to portray that in first person. But, I am making it a mostly chapter for chapter remake of the PHM book. So, what I’m looking for is advice on how to do that! I would love to hear people’s ideas on how I can make this story live up to its full potential.

Ryland Grace (Scientist, American)
- Mostly the same
- Not main contact with the Eridian
- Does have contact since it is science Eridian
- Doesn’t do his science job very well
- Very intimidated by the consistent cussing of his crew mates
James “Rocky” Garcia (Engineer, Italian)
- Completely deaf
- Pervert
- Freak
- Uses so many expletives in so many different sign languages
- Creates that one live sign language translation device on the Hail Mary so his crewmates know what he’s saying
- The Hail Mary was fitted with cameras used to translate for him but he didn’t like those
- Was (Unfortunately for his crew) the best ASI (Italian Space Agency) engineer of his time
- Main contact with Eridian
- Named Eridian “Adrian” after his wife for being the same color as her favorite stones
Simon Fischer (Pilot, Korean)
- The only one really willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of the Earth
- Anger issues that don’t really come into play
- Legally blind in his left eye
- Raised in Eden, which in this story is inspired by the Twelve Tribes and FLDS cults
- Escaped as a young adult to go to college
- Initially assumed to be dumb by Stratt and her assistant Ava.
Before you ask, yes I know Garcia is not an Italian last name, but I didn’t want to have two American astronauts on the Hail Mary.
