Symbols of Power

The Endeler is an amphibian, four legged silky-skin creature, usually grey or pale blue, it can breathe air or water, and can move swiftly in land. They can close their ears and nostrils while underwater. They have a row of thin and very sharp teeth like needles that they use to catch fish and other aquatic creatures. The males have tusks protruding from the sides of their beak, which they use to fight for territory and during in mating season.

Naelin was a merchant from the fallen kingdom in the island of Tháur that made a living from hunting and selling wares through different ports of the archipelago, and had his experience with both bows and beast’s diplomacy. After the High Rust, he and his little crew struggled to survive, but during one of the trips to an island on the south, Naelin went back to his ship carrying a hurt Tetsu cub that didn’t seem to intent on killing them. After the massive initial panic, the small crew agreed to take the cub back. He became a living legend among his people in no time, and feeling that the Tetsu’s cub was the ultimate display of power and protection, a settlement of people eager to live closer to the beast quickly formed, which turned to consider Naelin as a leader, and some time later, built a small kingdom with him as king. His rule is extremely characterized by his eagerness to form pacts with all kinds of species, including those usually overlooked by other peoples. As such, Tháur’s people make a harder distinction between pactual and crude beasts than other nations. He is a furry, and his phenotype is exotic.

Nile is a dramaturg and a bard, with a broad knowledge and talent for all sorts of interpretative arts, including theater, playing several instruments and singing. Nile possesses a staggering beauty, he was born albino, and takes great care of his looks: his tail and arm feathers usually fan out with long and curved points, and he uses small glasses over his beak, and delights in delicate clothes. He hangs with Danae at the Horror Circle, and lives close to him. He is a feathery, and his phenotype is Raven.

Danae is a scribe and cartographer of Tháur. His knowledge of language and his abilities with pen and paper have a high demand after the High rust, since most scribes died during it. Thus, Danae gained renown and lives well off close to the king’s castle, but does not feel personally inclined to be loyal to the new country or to consider himself to be protected by Dinner. He spends most of his time with his best friend Nile the bard, and frequents Nancy’s tavern secret group, the Horror Circle. Danae was born in a female body, but presents and identifies as a man. He is a feathery, and his phenotype is Bali Mynah.

Nancy is the owner of the Horror Café, an inn close to Tháur’s port. She is a strong woman in her mid 40’s that serves food, drink and recreational drugs, and provides shelter and commodities to the merchants and travelers. She uses to dress in comfortable and practical clothing. Despite being short of patience for the common folk, she has a soft spot for philosophy and art, so her tavern holds a kind-of-secret club (The Horror Circle) that meet in a hidden room in the back. There hang a lot of the artsy folk and people that are usually critical of the foundations and basis of Tháur’s nation. Nancy is a furry, and her phenotype is Spotted Hyena.

Peace Birds are considered a symbol of peace and fortune among the people of the whole archipelago. Scribes prize their feathers for writing.

The Herald’s Gnaw is a dangerous predator, and one of the many subspecies of Gnaw. They are furry, maned white creatures, whose manes extend in their backs. They usually live in snowy environments, tough some of them may be found in the colder White Forests. They were used a lot as a symbol of might in many kingdoms and families, gaining them their name. Other variants of less renown of the species include the Grey Gnaw, the Blossom Gnaw, among many others.

The Legar is a very big (With adults being taller than a person), dangerous scaly creature that lives in the riversides and spends most of their lives in the water, but only breathes air. They prefer deltas and smaller water courses over open rivers. Legars hunt the beasts that go to drink in the river, surprising them by sprouting from below 

The Hirschmalls are a very tall and slim silky-skinned pactual creature. They are white, and their heads looks a lot like skulls with multiple horns, and very big yellow eyes. Their legs are long and have three toes with sharp and long claws. Behind their back protrude three spines connected with flaps of skin to each other and to the legs. The structure lays at the back of the neck most of the time, but when the Hirschmall is threatened it will unfold and extend it to the sides of its body looking much larger. The creature has a very threatening and dangerous aspect, but it’s actually a very timid scavenger. This almost disappointing combination gained them the nicknames of “Waste of flesh”. The horns on every hirschmall are different and their patterns vary greatly, so it's easy to distinguish between individuals. Pictured is Issues, the ambassador hirschmall from Tháur.

The Bicarnivalers are carnivore, hooved and bulky beasts. They make excellent war mounts since they fight fiercely on their own. Their favourite prey consists of escapist goats. The legend says an unknown tribe of people made feasts honoring these beasts, which included fountains of livestock blood and the release of captive escapist goats for the beasts to hunt, which gave them the name of Blood Carnivalers. Most bicarnivalers are male. The scarcity of females make the males fight fiercely and bloodly in mating season, and it's not unheard of for one to die in these battles.

In all the known islands, the Alzufhar is the most relevant beast in the surviving nations. These versatile and highly intelligent creature full of interesting perks was crucial for the development of most cultures as a work beast, as a mount both in peace and war, and as the symbol of fertility and sexuality among others.
