Hand in Hand

The Hand Posture

The bride gets all decked up for her BIG day, looking gorgeous is her only agenda. On the other side of her room door, photographers wait eagerly to have a look at the bride for the first time.

What an honor right? you get to see the bride before anyone else. Once that door opens, all the photographers gathered outside went crazy clicking away shots of her in different angles.

But in this case, I stood way back, waiting calmly to see whats interesting. She came out, she was asked to stand right next to the pillar. And interesting I saw her clutching her hand in a more girly and traditional way.

Throw This, Throw that

It doesn't matter what kind of Indian Wedding you attend, you always see pundits/pujaris asking the bride/groom/father/mother to throw stuff into fire/bowls/rice/etc. Christian wedding are an exception though.

So bottom line, its an action fest of sorts with things flying everywhere. And this is one of those scenes where the groom is throwing a flower on a plate as part of a Brahmin wedding ceremony.

Shot with my new Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro lens.. Check the DOF on this lens.. very very thin and its incredible. Love the bokeh it creates, can get so close to an object.

My first stab on photo re-touching.. I have never ever spent so much time on post-processing, but this one really took my entire saturday away.

End product, very very satisfactory. Looking forward to working on this more often so I can improve my skill factory .

3 Light setup.

One for gradient at the background

One Key light to light her face put on an umbrella

One fill light bouncing off the qall behind the camera

Bokehlicious

This photo might look simple as it is, but I had to overcome so many technical challenges to get it to production quality.

Getting a Bokeh Simple : Light bulbs kept at a distance of 1:8 ratio to the camera & the subject.

Getting a black background Simple : Black backdrop or underexposure the entire scene.

But the main challenge is "GETTING THE REFLECTION ON THE GLASS" correct. 

Even in this photo I have user 2 speedlights,

Canon 600-EX-RT bouncing off the ceiling at about 1/64 power.

Yongnuo 560 II to the right side of the glass, firing at 1/128th power kept on floor level directed at a 45 degree angle.

And finally a White reflector on the opposite side of the Yongnuo flash to bounce some light off to fill in the shadow & negate the reflection of the room.
