Ā Ā Ā Admittedly, Tyto had been following this one for a while.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Nothing was a more powerful drive than curiosity, something both Tyto andĀ Fang had in common. The robotic seemed nothingĀ like HK-206, and yet they couldnāt help but tag along, using the safety of the shadows to remain inconspicuous until Fang had taken the next step.
Ā Ā Ā Various little chitters and chirps echoed against the walls, and soon, red-tipped ears perked into view as the small creature emerged, taking careful steps with a twitching nose.
Ā Ā Ā Deep down, Fang knew one of two things could happen. Oneāthey would be fine. Tyto would appear from above and introduce themselves, and a new friend would be made. Or, twoāFang would bite any exposed wires they could before Tyto rescued them from potential dangers as they alwaysĀ had. Though, Fang had high hopes for this one. If they were anything like HK was, then perhaps they tooĀ were just as curious about herself as she was them.
Ā Ā Ā A few steps closer, and she waits, her ear flicking as Tyto had finally dropped with a softĀ thud against the ground, blue eyes piercing the dark alleyway until they stepped into view. Fang wasting no time to claim that spectacular spot on her friendās shoulders, shouting out a trill of excitement.
NOT SQUIRREL; is signed over and over again, only to stop after the fifth time, the vigilante growing all too eager to break a bit into the otherās personal space. How was their face doing that?Ā Was this some sort of maskā¦? How odd.
The designāit was something of the likes of which theyād neverĀ seen before!Ā
Strange trilling sounds echoed down the alley, soft and barely perceptible against the ambience of far-away traffic and dripping gutters, but keen sensors were certainly a bonus to being all wires and metal. When his treads ran over something crunchy, he paused, pulling back. Broken glass? Probably from the overhead street-light; it would explain why it was so dark.
The trilling stopped.
After a moment in the black silence, he exhaled. Not that he really needed to breatheĀ or anything, but the release made him feel a little better. Nervous? He didnāt know the meaningĀ of that word! Of courseĀ there wasnāt anything here, and besides, what could possibly happen? His death?Ā
He turned to leave when those curiously red-tipped ears emerged from behind a fettered pipe, delicate white paws and twinkling eyes.āOh!ā Was all he could manage, before bending over as much as he could to examine the tiny creature.
āAre you the one I saw? Are you a lost little... squirrel...?ā Everything he knew said it didnāt fit the proper profile of a squirrel, but maybe things were different here. What did he know?Ā
The dull thud of two feet hitting the ground from behind him made him stop his attempt to cooĀ at his new friend, and he stood up quickly, turning around carefully as to avoid running over the squirrel as it ran past him to climb up the strangers body. Well, if his little friend seemed okay with them, then they must be okay too!
He barely activated his speaker when they began gesturingĀ at him repeatedly. An old and forgotten language! His eyes followed the repetitive movements until they slowed, cataloguing it, and... Ah-ha! Pretty lucky that his former owner had such an extensive lexicon as to contain hundredsĀ of global languages and cultures installed into his hard-drive!Ā
āOh, itās not?ā He replied, casting a look at the little creature now perched on his shoulder. āWhat kind of animal is it supposed to be then? It isĀ your pet, right?ā He simply stood there, watching as the other leaned into his personal bubble. Sure, he felt uncomfortable with the sudden attention, but if thatās what they wanted to do, why would he complain?Ā āYou donāt dress like youāre from around here!ā He noted as an afterthought.Ā āAnd your face is covered. Are you hiding from someone?ā
