This SYCEP experience was my first "job". Working at my first job at Chinatown Learning Center, was my first work experience, and of course I'll never forget it, nobody ever forgets their first job. My worksite was wonderful. I have worked with kids before, but the kids I worked with at CLC were amazing! The kids made me smile and laugh so much, they are so full of life, and always had such funny stories to tell me. I enjoyed it when I was able to read to the kids during circle and even being in charge of circle time. I can go on and on about the amazing kids I worked with, but I won't. On my last day yesterday, it was bittersweet, and I was a little emotional leaving, the kids were all saying bye to me and giving me hugs. I never would have thought I'd get so attached to the kids. My worksite made my SYCEP experience great, and memorable.

My SYCEP experience was also great because I had wonderful mentors. Johnathan, who I learned so much from during the PD seminars, was great. I'm gad that my SYCEP experience included an education aspect, because I learned a lot about resumes, and cover letters, but more importantly how to network. My other mentor Kimberly was also great, she was always looking out for me, and making sure everything was going well. It was nice to have someone who was always concerned about how things were going.

As far as academics go I will use my work experience at Chinatown Learning Center, to guide me. With working at Chinatown learning center, I will decide if early childhood development is what I want to pursue in college and if I want to be a head teacher at a daycare in the future. I am currently unsure of what I want to study in college, however I will use my time at Chinatown Learning Center to help me decide. 

My work site experience will help me, in the professional aspect in my life. I feel as if working around kids is actually a good way to learn some kind of professionalism. While working with kids you always have to be professional with almost everything. I feel that working with children has taught me how to be even more professional in not only my work-site, but other places as well.

More specifically, my dream job would be working with ESPN, and being on a show were I can discuss sports. I enjoy watching sports, and discussing them, so I guess it would be a dream to have a job doing something I enjoy. Working with ESPN and discussing sports on t.v. would be a dream job because I would be good at it, I'm very knowledgeable about sports, so I believe that would be a natural at a job like that. Working with ESPN would be a dream of mine because, not only do I watch ESPN and shows like sports center and ESPN's First Take daily, it is a goal of mine to be on both shows one day, or even hosting them one day.

A dream job for me might, might also be a newscaster on a local news station. Like I said previously, I believe that I posses the skills needed for this particular job. Also, I think this would be something I will enjoying doing everyday. This would be a job were it would no feel like work because I am doing something that I love everyday.

 When I think about these skills, I realize that these are actually important skills I will need if I want to be successful in the early childhood development field, if I chose to go into this field. I need to make sure that all the children I'm working with feel included. I also need to make sure that I can sense the emotions of the children if there is a problem. I also need to be restorative in order to solve any problems that would occur between the children, and it is also important for me to be positive around the children, so I can send positive vibes to the children.

It is important for me to develop even further in the strengths I was given in  strength quest especially since I didn't even know had these skills. Since I have received these skills, at work I have been trying everyday to develop these strengths even more. If it is simple stuff like making sure all of the children are being included in activities such as circle time, and play time at the park, and also having a good time doing those activities. I also develop the strength of having a positive attitude everyday when I come to work because it is important that I spread positivity to the children. It is also important that I develop m strength of empathy because, I should be able to sense an emotion coming from child, to know how the child is feeling, so I can help them get through their feelings.

It is important for me to keep myself accountable at my worksite because at Chinatown Learning Center everyone is a team, and it important that I stay accountable because I do not want to let any of my peers down.

I keep myself accountable at my work site by continuing to arrive to work on time. In my worksite on the other hand I keep myself accountable by doing what my supervisor ask to me to do at my best ability. Also, it is important to be someone that my supervisor can trust, not only does my supervisor depend on me, other employees at Chinatown Learning Center depend on me.I am not only accountable for doing the work my supervisor has for me, but also keeping an eye on the children and making sure that they are safe at all times.

As a new employee, at my work site there is a lot to learn about how things are done at my work site. Another obstacle is getting to know the children. I want to get to know the children at my worksite so they can feel comfortable around me and also come  to me when they have a problem, just like they do with all of the other teachers in the classroom. 

Some rewards of working at my worksite is doing what I enjoy. I enjoy working with kids, so having another opportunity to do that is very rewarding. It is also rewarding when I am able to read stories to the children and teach them new things. It is an extremely rewarding feeling knowing that I am helping add knowledge to the children at Chinatown Learning Center.

Transitioning and adaptability is very important to in order for me to succeed at my job. I have to adapt to the ways things work at Chinatown Learning Center in order to be a good intern for not only my supervisor but also the children. Lastly, transitioning and adapting is very important in order for me to learn more about this specific work field.
