I want to be the kid in your sunday school class with an obvious and naive crush that you allow to stay after to "ask you questions about the scripture we discussed this week" when it's clearly an excuse to spend more time alone with you. my parents adore you for your piousness and how devoted you are to your flock so they don't question letting me stay longer and longer after, and eventually well into the afternoon on sundays as you start inviting me to join you for tea and cookies in the rectory. none of the other kids get to do that, it's private bible study for your best student. you tell me I'm special, pure of heart, chosen by God. you tell me stories about little girls chosen by God to bear children by holy figures and what a privilege it is to offer oneself for that purpose. devout and brainwashed and in awe of you, I open myself up easily and willingly when you tell me that God chose me for you. you're going to truly teach me what it means to be saved, how transcendent it feels to be touched by someone God speaks through. but it has to be kept between us, not everyone is as close to the Lord as we are. people may not understand our connection to God and how you show me his love. it's dangerous to be chosen, remember what they did to Jesus? it's much better to just keep it between the three of us.
