it’s honestly incredible to me how the GA is paying attention to conformitygate. the thing is is that it’s not even hard to compile evidence for conformitygate if you actually paid attention to the show all these years. bylers have always been given shit for “over analyzing” “making things too deep” “giving meaning to every detail no matter how small” and now that season 5 was so ass, they’re like “WAIT A MINUTE! that didn’t make sense!”. and now they’re rewatching, analyzing, and putting together the pieces. however, one thing they’ll never accept as much as they believe in conformitygate, is that conformitygate exists because the show has always had mike and will’s queerness imbedded into the narrative and mike’s desire to be “normal” is at the center of this theory.

The thing is, I think I genuinely would've been okay with byler not happening if they dropped both byler and mileven entirely and focused solely on willel. Just forget romance completely and let the twins be twins. A found family sibling dynamic will always be more compelling than a romance. Idc I think all of s5 should have been willel-centric, and they should've been paired up all season. They're so underdeveloped, and yet the literal crumbs we have of them are sooo sweet. Their hug when El saves Will in ep6 is one of the top moments of this season for me.
